What I think may have happened was this. Moore had it in his mind that spiking the ball is like using a down as a timeout. It is ... sort of. The huge difference is you cannot instantly spike it to stop the clock. You have to get into position to run a play first and the ref has to position the football. Most of us here are saying, "Well, doh." But Moore was thinking he wanted some more yards to make the Hail Mary closer and thus more achievable and thus called the QB draw. Through lack of experience, he thought there was enough time to get in position and spike it.
Maybe our Boy Wonder has some knowledge of the game, but is still green with inexperience. Is this a possible explanation for what happened? What do you think?
