I'm sure most of you don't either but some of you might.

Consider this. He apparently injured the knee week 4 against the Panthers.

Now if Zeke's knee injury was so limiting why would he rush for 110 yards and 5.2 yards per carry the very next week? How is that possible 7 days after a ligament tear yet it's so debilitating the rest of the season?

I'm sure he had a knee issue but I think it's been used to cover for a rapidly declining once superstar. A player the Cowboys are not only heavily invested in and loyal to because of the contract but the fact that he's the QB's best friend.

This is a real problem and it's not going away in 2022. No matter how many awesome offseason workout videos he posts.

The thing I question more than anything is why were they so stubborn to keep giving him the ball. His production was clearly affected yet they kept feeding him the ball. I would have kept the whole PCL thing quiet because it makes them look like idiots that they knew he had a significant injury with a decreased production yet foolishly kept playing him.

Him and Dak being best friends is probably the reason he gets so many opportunities. Daks going to bat for him most likely

One of Jerry's best decisions - paying Elliott what he did.

There were a lot of smart people here that said it was a bad idea. There were also a lot of people here who thought Elliott was this transcedent player that we had to sign. Those people look completely foolish at this time.

I have injured myself, thought I was OK to workout, and then realized really exacerbated the problem. Could be something like that.

Or, more, likely he's following the standard decline in RB that we've seen again and again.

We'll have next year to confirm regardless .

I think Cole Beasley dropped some truth bombs about how this organization operates when he left:

“I was seeing that even though I was better, it didn’t matter almost,” Beasley said of his rookie experience. “I got frustrated, more frustrated than I should’ve. It was a wake-up call for me what the NFL was. It wasn’t real, not what I thought it was.

“You automatically assume the best players in the NFL always play. Then you get there, and you realize it’s not always the case. I wondered what I was working for. The coaches keep telling me I’m undrafted, I’m small, take no days off, I have to earn it every day. And I felt like I was, but maybe I’m still not going to get it because this other guy is making $8 million, and they have to justify signing him.”

Either you believe and accept the Jones' ego at the root of these decisions to play players based on contracts and/or draft positions or you don't. If you do, there is your answer. I think they had to sell the Joneses on benching Williams and that backfired because McGovern is worse,

After watching these 2 RB's run all year, which would have received the most touches if you were making the call? Clement ran as well as Elliott.

I have seen the difference since he got that contract and I do not think that is connected except something happened in a game that year that put him in touch with the reality of a RB's career length and the reliability his team had on him to help the QB.

When Booger came in on that "jocks to socks" statement, did you think he was kidding? He stayed out of the "jocks" part as long as he had Johnson but once that changed, it was his team and coaches did either what he told them to do or what they thought he wanted them to do.

If you have ever had a boss, you learn to anticipate their expectations and try to meet and exceed them and the really good employees do that before they are asked.

What do you think happened in that 12 hour interview that landed McC the job?

I don’t think the knee injury helped.

That being said. You very well may be right. I can’t imagine the number of “knicks” a running back gets over the course of a season. I’m sure after years of carrying the load. Zeke’s entire body probably hurt all season long and everything compounds.

I’ve learned my lesson as a fan. Never pay a RB a big dollar, long term guaranteed deal.

Unfortunately we are stuck with Zeke for one more year at least.

The bigger concern is the fact that the coaching staff or front office, still insisted on Zeke getting the primary load, while Pollard was overall playing very well this season.

I even said during the playoff game. “I look forward to Zeke getting 15 Carries for 3 YPC”

Meanwhile, he didn’t even get 3 YPC.

Ah man, you did it now.

Somewhere this very second RonaldT24 is putting the final touches on his 5,000+ word unformatted response.

Cause when Zeke is out there teams still believe in stopping him first and then let Dak beat you. So it worked for a few more weeks after the panthers and then Fangio did what the NFL simply had to see. Atlanta Quinn really beat them down and made it easy for the offense. Then KC’s defense just smother us. We then played mostly the NFCE that couldn’t do what the 49ers did, even without a secondary. Their DB let’s us know the game plan.

Teams keep telling us the same game plan with Dak after they beat us. Moore is a sweetheart X’s and O’s Guy. There’s no mentality in that career backup. Zeke was a superstar and as highly competitive as they come into the league. A lot of mileage and he got paid because everyone knew he was the engine but like all high mileage engines. They don’t perform with the same spark as the mileage increases.

This thread is a good example of where we're at in society. It doesn't matter what is right in front of you, people are going to believe what they want to be true. Everyone from players to coaches to executives were raving about the type of shape Zeke was in coming into camp, his ypg were on his pace with his sophomore season and then right around the time he was supposed to have been injured, his numbers seemingly fall of a cliff. Think about that for a minute, best shape in his career, numbers in line with his sophomore season, numbers tank out of nowhere...and people actually believe he wasn't injured.
