How are the 49ers so good with an overpaid, mediocre QB?

The best DLine rotation in the playoffs along with a stout running game will take you far. If they get a better QB, which they know they need, they could be a force for the next 5 years.

To be fair when Garrap signed with SF he was the highest paid QB in football. It’s just inflation now

Yeah.. But people ignore he was the only guy on the team making money.

Jimmy G has a higher cap hit than Dak this year.
He is 5-1 in his playoff career with 2 TD, 5 INT, 121 YDS/G and 70 passer rating.
Maybe Cowboy fans have supremely overrated the talent on this Dallas roster?
TEAM game also didn't shoot themselves in the foot, we had 14 penalties that created mess for us to not only play the 9ers but play ourselves and the refs, we had to play a different game is 1st and 20 2nd 12 3rd and 10 whereas the other teams only had to play 1st and 10 most of the game.that hard to overcome.

clean up the penalties and we will have a successful run next year, the mistakes haunt us.

And his contract obviously crippled the niners and prevented them from building a good squad.

I remember Jimmy Johnson used to say of the three things offense, defense, and special teams, you needed to win two out of those three to win the game. The 49ers beat Green Bay by winning on defense and special teams. They won while scoring only 13 points. That blows my mind.

Different circumstances, we didnt play SF in the elements. A 40 million dollar QB has to deliver indoors, at home.
If Dak had zero TD's in a playoff game, there is virtually zero chance this team wins a playoff game. If our team only scores 13 points, there is virtually zero chance we win a playoff game. You're right, there are different circumstances though - Jimmy plays on a vastly superior team. As does Burrow, who also had zero TD's, and didn't play in poor weather

How about owner that puts winning a championship above everything else and is willing to sacrifice whatever it takes including his own comfort to get it done

Well that should always be number one. Why the cowboys will never see another trophy under Jerry or Stephen unless a miracle happens and they hire real people to run the organization

They have a GM that can build a team.

Because The players on the 49ers have bought into wanting to win a championship more then making business decisions.

This, plus SF is better at running, playcalling, ST, kicking and defense.

Well, we have average to below average DT’s, same at LB except for you know who, our offensive C and LG suck, we have TE’s who can’t block, and our highest paid RB is slow. Add in a HC and OC that are also average to below and we have some big holes.

One reason is they built there Dline sucking for years. They also got Trent Williams after he held out and got him for nothing.

Most importantly Shanny can coach!

Sounds like what you want to do is absolve our scrub QB of his piss poor play in the most important game of the year.

What we have seen for 25 years now is the same mistakes. There is no accountability when playing for Dallas. Jerry is like their best friend. He hires coaches who won’t give him no push back and those types of coaches don’t have the balls to tell them like it is and punish them for making mistakes and make them work on it. They had parcells who would have but that did not last long.

i just wish that the jones valued defensive line players. they started last year with drafting two defensive tackles the last two years maybe this year they can draft another one that may help in the first three rounds again this year. we need to build the front seven better to contend for a superbowl.

The 49ers don't ask Jimmy G to carry the team on his shoulders. The run a far more balanced offense that the Cowboys. If the Cowboys had a running game and Dak threw only 25 times a game, I bet they would be a better team.

But then they need to get stronger on defense.

Just a thought, but Dallas will commit $151 million in CAP space to offense in 2022 and just $63 million to defense. The 49ers will put $99 million into the offense and $87 million into the defense. Of course these numbers will change but the point is, until the Cowboys are willing to build a defense that wins games instead of depending on throwing 50 times a game they will never make it through the playoffs without a tremendous amount of good fortune.

Then Dak shouldn't have asked for 40 million.

The Bengals roster is not better than ours. Not even close.

The Niners were picking in the top 10 in the draft for years because they were terrible. Sometimes in the top 5. You are bound to hit on some of those players like Bosa who they got at #2 in the year he came out.
