IDK......if you think about it, with the exception of stopping the run ( which is huge), this D was about as good we could expect. We lead the league in takeaways, top10 in points allowed. Something getting loss is the offense's inability to convert those turnovers to points, time and time again we settled for FG or no points. I haven't done the math but I am willing to bet it cost us at least two wins. We left a ton of points on the field for sure.......
This is why fixing the offense especially the run game should be the priority

Yes, OP. And it should show us how exactly what is needed to compete. A 1tech is essential. I believe most of the draft currency should be used towards the DL and OL

Cowboys have never taken their interior defensive lines serious. Back in the day they had Ratliff as a pro bowler only because he was getting sacks but they they were trotting out a 290lb nose tackle in a 3-4 defense. Yeah getting some sacks was great but clogging the middle and disrupting the middle he did not and that part suffered and they got gashed.

Totally agree with you
People poking holes into particular players are laughable
“Dominance “ of their DL is evaluated by the fact that they can rush 4 and stop the run and pressure the passer

Our DL cannot even do one of those things effectively. Teams rush for over a 100 yards and QBs have all day against us on routine basis even when we are sending Parsons

Every year I am pretty sure you convince yourself they did a nice job in assembling the DL and every year they go out and play mediocre to poor.

You'd think some of you guys would finally figure this out but I guess not. This team needs a talent infusion at DT. It just does.

PS - You do realize that Armstead was largely injured his 2nd and 3rd years, right?
Was gallimore not injured this year? And what is your plan for this magical talent infusion with our cap situation? Please humor me

Robert Quinn would have been the edge to go along with Tank but oh well he’s in Chicago racking up sacks. I’ve seen posts in this board about how you can’t win championships leaving the heavy lifting to defense. Nonsense .

The 49ers have given up an average of 13.5 points in two ROAD playoff games now going to the NFC championship with the bus driver at QB who committed the sin of a red zone pick right before half. This team won’t win a SB but that defense makes it interesting .
That defense nearly gifted the Packers a second TD that due to the 49ers bumbling offense, could have demoralized the team and been enough to win the game.
But backs to the wall - they not only prevented the score going to 0-14 -- but the special team blocked a chip-shot FG to kept just at just one TD down going into halftime.

Your DL cant be elite when someone like Tank Lawerence is your best player

Our DTs suck and Gregory plays like he’s high during the game
You gotta allow osa and Gallimore to develop. Even bum Trysten will be in his 4th year/contract year so we'll get the best version of him too. No rookie dt will save us and if there's a beast dt in the NFL which one is available for a trade?

Groppolo has got to play much better in the NFCCG. After last Sunday and last night- I'm not about to go either the Rams or Buccaneers being slam-dunks getting by the 49ers.
Stafford has had played poorly two or three times this past season. Brady was just above average during last postseason, and threw 3 INTs in the conference title game.

i think we're heading in the right direction.
i like our young dt's...gallimore,odighizuwa and bohanna.
i like dlaw and golston.
if we lose gregory...i'd like to get a de in the draft within our first 3 picks.
this is a solid de class...there are several up and down the board i like.
travon walker,georgia
jermaine johnson,fsu
sam williams,ole' miss
isaiah thomas,ou
michael clemmons,texas a&m
xavier thomas,clemson
i'd look to add one...and try to re-sign gregory or armstrong.

if kenyon green is not an option at 24...i'd go with georgia dt jordan davis or fsu de jermaine johnson, fsu.

uconn dt travis jones intrigues me.
texas a&m jaydeen peevy intrigues me as well with his size.
and i like sweat,dt-texas.

this is a good draft along the dline.
i'd like to add a de and dt to our existing group.

Use a premium pick on an interior DL or even a pass rushing edge player.

The first two picks should be on a DL and an OL. Both are lines are suspect.

Any plan that involves counting on Trysten Hill to improve in Year 4 is a flawed plan. And note, it's not that I don't like Osa or Gallimore. I do. They both can be part of a really good DT rotation but the interior DL lacks a playmaker.

In FA, I'd look for a big run plugger. A guy you know can just sit there and eat up space. We don't have a guy like either.

Would rather get a LB in draft. Maybe Cox can take it. But move Parsons to DE if we lose Gregory.. Parsons is going to put in 5 or 10 pounds this offseason with pro trainers..

OG, C and DT are priorities 1, 2, 3. We’ve got to get stronger in the middle of the trenches. So we can get a push the run game on O and stop the run with our DL on D.

i think this is a good draft for dline and LBs.
i think we can address all 3.
left guard to replace williams is still my #1.
