This is one rumor but have seen others linking KC and NY Jets

The Jaguars’ priority this offseason should be to get their signal-caller, Trevor Lawrence, plenty of weapons. That is the best way to ensure a young quarterback’s success in the NFL. See Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals as the prime example. Luckily for Baalke, the Dallas Cowboys could move on from Pro Bowl wide receiver Amari Cooper.

Anything is possible when talking about the Cowboys, so if Jerry Jones will be taking offers for Cooper, the Jaguars are in the perfect position to offer draft capital for the wideout’s services. Besides, let’s not put it past Jones to trade Cooper to a team that had the worst record in 2021. More importantly, by moving Cooper, the Boys would free up nearly $16 million in cap space with a dead-money hit of $6 million if he’s dealt around draft time.

If you’re Baalke, you surround Lawrence with playmakers, and good things will happen. It’s not rocket science. Cooper’s contract is an expensive one, yes, but proven commodities in the NFL don’t come cheap. In this scenario, the Jags acquire Cooper in exchange for their two 2022 third-round selections. Keep in mind Jacksonville got an additional third-round pick, along with tight end Dan Arnold, when they traded cornerback C.J. Henderson to the Panthers.

Yeah, let the Jags take Cooper and Zeke too, and I promise you they will get the numbers again. Plus we have headroom again to try some different FAs... so why not?

I'm not overly keen on trading away Cooper but I also understand the cap situation and how critical draft picks will be for Dallas. Cowboys are not in a position to make a splash in FA so they must be able hit on draft picks, having more picks would be a big help and of course a move like this helps free up more money on the cap. It beats just releasing guys to free up money

You draft a lot of guys with hope they will turn into something.

Do you think, right now, CeeDee is an ideal #1 receiver?
How about just giving him the chance to prove it for a season? Step out of the shadow of Cooper? And apart from that, he does have the potential and I'd like to see Wilson as #2.

So, if we're going to have a crap year next year, at least it wouldn't be with so many big contracts on the roster. It would be more appropriate so to speak. :) Would keep the expectations down too.

With three years and $60 remaining on his deal, Cooper could be a realistic trade option this offseason. According to Bleacher Report’s Michelle Bruton, the Cowboys could deal Cooper to the Kansas City Chiefs for a first-round draft pick in a possible blockbuster scenario.

“The Kansas City Chiefs are smack dab in the middle of the league when it comes to the salary cap,” says Bruton. “They have just under $23 million to play with presently. But this offseason, Kansas City will likely gain much more cap space. For instance, they have an out on Frank Clark’s contract, which carries a $26.3 cap hit in 2022.

Last offseason, the Chiefs were pushing to add a wide receiver in free agency. They missed out on JuJu Smith-Schuster, Trent Williams and Josh Reynolds. In 2021, Patrick Mahomes clearly made do with Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, Mecole Hardman and Byron Pringle. But if the Chiefs are still looking for help, this offseason presents a few chances.”

I mean, I guess it would be smart to use the next 3 years to see who is for real and who is not, so we can have an idea of who to try and keep around for the next QB.

You could say so, yes. No worn out overpaid guys, just talents and proven "down in the trenches" players. I mean take Steele for example. He had some good games but they didn't let him finish because of an underachieving starter.

Now bring up all that depth I say and get rid of the shiny forefront, which is kinda rotten beneath the paint. And tell Dak "we're starting over, you won't have the weapons of last year, so you gotta be the weapon this year. And YOU tell me what you need for that apart from capable receivers. How do we repair your head?".

Better than releasing him.
I'd love to have that top pick in the 2nd.

- Yeh, if you're cutting/releasing him ... you get nuthin' for him ... not even a future compensatory draft pick.

- If you're trading him, you not only get rid of that $20 million per year contract and free up significant cap space rolling into 2023,
but you have a chance to get a considerably draft pick in return.

- Realistically more likely a 3rd or 4th round pick at best.

- Question of the Day: Would you consider trading Cooper to Philly Wash or the Giants within your own division for the right price ?

CeeDee Lamb:
1,102 yards receiving
79 catches
13.9 per catch average
6 TDs
Long of 49 yards

Yes. CeeDee had the highest numbers in each category, except for TDs, in 2021. Those are legit #1 WR numbers. He easily could have had another 200+ yards had he not had so many drops.

I am not against trading Cooper but with Gallup, Wilson, Turner, and Brown all becoming free agents they better be sure they can sign one or two of them and I am really referring to Gallup and Wilson.

Also, I doubt the Cowboys could do better than a 3rd round pick for Cooper after a down year.

Same culprits with their lame anti-Dak posts every single day. As if that's going to make Jerry replace Dak?

Okay, but do you think he does that without Cooper on the field taking most of the attention away?

Ceedee's only game without Cooper he had 3 catches for 14 yards.

Cooper didn't take any attention away. Cooper admitted in recent weeks he was mostly single covered most of this season. Even Jerry called out Cooper recently because it was so obvious Cooper never drew more than single coverage most of the time.
