Fine with me. Let Cooper go, re-sign Gallup to a #2 WR contract, draft another WR and move on.
Agreed.

If you can retain 2-3 players you would have lost plus potentially add a solid contributor or two in the draft then it's just good business.

I dont at all overlook what he brings to the table but the less we win in the trenches the less valuable he is anyway.

Some will suggest Dallas could net a first-round pick for Coop. But asking a team to absorb $22 million, if including his $2 million yearly bonus, & to fork over a top-25 pick is too much.

More realistically, the Cowboys would have to focus on Day 2 picks for a player who keeps racking up injuries.

There's far more glaring than Amari........team searching for excuses like some of the threads on this board. You can't put KIA (no offense) parts on a Porsche. You can't mix apples & oranges. JJ and this franchise needs to start top to bottom......coaches, coaching philosophy/team identity.....then who stays/who goes as far as players. With all the rumors.....this is funny. Next week: CeeDee

A second round pick from the Jags will still potentially still be in the 30's range. The saved money will allow to re-sign: Gregory/Pollard/Gallup and also look to cut/trade DLaw and Zeke (2023).

I'd prefer this approach than kick the toxic CAP can down the years.

I havent seen a single rumor about trading Cooper.

Cowboys fans are ****in idiots. Lets think this out. We're not very good so lets trade 2 or 3 of our good players. Then we'll be good? profit?

How about just giving him the chance to prove it for a season? Step out of the shadow of Cooper? And apart from that, he does have the potential and I'd like to see Wilson as #2.

So, if we're going to have a crap year next year, at least it wouldn't be with so many big contracts on the roster. It would be more appropriate so to speak. :) Would keep the expectations down too.
Agree we need to let Coop walk unfortunately. Another body hits the sacrificial altar. Do you remember just how bad Dak was after he canceled Dez and we tried things out without a true #1WR? It was bad. Gonna be a rough year.

Next year's built in excuse..."Dak doesn't have a true #1 to throw to!"

You draft a lot of guys with hope they will turn into something.

Do you think, right now, CeeDee is an ideal #1 receiver?
Yes. Minus The Anchor in a #4 jersey . . . isn't this universally known

But you are correct as well. . Lamb is not ideal as Cowboys #1 . . . Its a waste and He will not be in position to succeed

The only WR that was ever ideal for Dak was Cooper . . A route running Genius who doesn't run his mouth . . .
And now Cooper is tired and not even he could hold his tongue

Then Jerry came out after the season just ended and threw shade on Cooper . . . I knew then Cooper was gone.

2 3rds would be ideal . . .

I would love to see Cooper shine with Lawrence . . . Lawrence deserves a weapon like that.

Lamb as the #1 would destroy is reputation and fans will be running him out of town

True #1 receivers produce regardless of QB, see Megatron and Davante Adams.

It was a mistake giving Cooper 20 mil. He has a ton of physical talent but there is just something about him that screams quitter. He doesn't seem to have that eye of the tiger hunger. I think he is a solid receiver but won't take a team over the top against stiff competition.

Doesn't have an ounce of dawg in him.

Although I wouldn't call the contract a mistake.

Very much unlike Elliotts, the team has a clear out right in front of them if they so choose.

As I said elsewhere, the less we win in the trenches the less valuable Cooper is anyway.

My gut says he is still here this season.

That's what doesn't make any sense. People want to trade away our actual decent players for 'cap freedom' but what have we done in free agency where anyone should care about 'cap freedom'? Get rid of cooper and bring on 5 players that never make the team?

If we can retain Gallup for cheap and pick up a speedy WR that plays similar to Hill from KC or Kupp from LA we should be fine at the position.

I agree.
If we pick up a player similar two of the most dynamic offensive weapons in the NFL, we should be fine at that position

its all rumors nothigs ral until it is fans here has filled the front page with rumors the last week..

Not one has been true

DQ is still here MM was never going Payton wasn't coming and nothing has yet to be even considered by teh FO as far as roster and trades until the actual offseason starts.

I wouldn't worry about twitter and SM bein g used as SOURCE..its not..

there will be more then several meetings in the coming months about this and will be serious decisions to make on the FA and RFAS on our own team before the ones under contract come up. we will know when someone at the ranch comes out an makes an actual statement.

I'm sure some of these layers will be offered restructures or asked to take pay cut before they are actually cut or traded.

My point is that someone like Hill isn’t a circus catch guy, he’s just fast and shifty. We already have a guy like that (Pollard) but he’s horrendously underused, and he’s a RB.
