Kind of why I think we need to use a first-round pick on a defensive tackle that doesn't need a lot of development because we don't seem to be very good at developing players there
No argument from me there, my biggest issue is do you get that guy all the way down at the 24th overall pick? Donald was a top 15 guy. I'm sure the Cowboys would have taken him had he dropped a couple more spots, but these guys go quick. Not trying to tear apart you emphasis on the position. I agree with you completely, and actually think the way the NFL is headed we may see more of a premium on interior pass rushers over edge rushers. I'm just more pessimistic on our ability to get one without trading up in the draft. Doubt FA is a realistic option either.

There are probably quite a few teams that could use a guy like Micah Parsons and you know what they may have to use a first-round draft pick to get one like we did.

Let's see if I can spell it out a little More clearly for you after watching Aaron Donald last night I believe we should use a first-round draft pick on a defensive tackle as we have been weak there for probably over a decade.

Watching Aaron Donald play goes a long way in showing how weak we are at the position sure I realize everyone would like to have Aaron Donald and you don't pick generational players like that off trees.

THE POINT OF THE POST IS THAT WE NEED TO USE A FIRST-ROUND DRAFT PICK TO
TRY AND FIX THIS POSITION OF NEED
Or find one of the guys I listed above. They are there, but you must emphasize the position in rounds 3-5. I wanted Hargrave badly over Malik Collins, and Hargrave has turned out to be a stud, but we wouldn't look at him because he's short!!!

Oh I have a good thread up next titled "After watching Joe Burrow and Mathew Stafford we could really use something similar". And if that gets enough likes, I might dive into " After watching Cooper Kupp and Jamaar Chase we could really use something similar".

I was not arguing with your premise, just injecting a bit of "grass is greener" analogy from different perspectives.

Of course teams want players like the best players on other teams and I hope the Cowboys find an Aaron Donald, a Jonathan Taylor, a Deebo Samuel, etc.

31 other NFL teams feel the same way about wanting an Aaron Donald type. Welcome 2 the crowd. They don't grow on trees. That said, I really like Gallimore and the nucleus we have at dline. We need 2 add a veteran stud into the dt mix. Championships are still won with interior dline play. We see this time and time again, year in,year out. Chiefs have Chris Jones..another rare DT. Bucs have Suh. Cincy has 2 guys like that. Niners had this. Which is why they did what they did. Great interior d travels very well. The glitz and finesse, not so much, especially when you are a undisciplined team and basically dumb. See Randy Gregory.

I mean if you can find a DT that is 75% of Aaron Donald then you have a Hof defensive tackle

Aaron Donald is a top 5 defensive lineman of all time

Donald is a generational talent. He is going to go down as top 5 greatest players at his postion. Wouldn't be shocked when it's all said and done people will rank him the best.

My bad. I misread. So, we are looking for a 6'1 280 lb DT]

Yup. They are there, I outlined a few I've wanted us to draft through the years. We draft stiff LB's and S's in the mid rounds instead, or injured OL's.

We don't look for Aaron Donald types.

You have been advocating for a big space eating nose tackle for at least a decade. Aaron Donald is not a space eating nose tackle. He is actually undersized which is why he lasted until pick 13. Nobody saw this kind of domination coming from a dude his size.

Christian Barmore and Milton Williams were two guys last year. They both had good rookie seasons but only time will tell how well they do. Watching some Eagles games Williams looked very good on the plays he was in there.

He will never be the best..and thats not a knock on him. But I can think of a few better than him. Bob Lilly, John Randle, Randy White, Mean Joe Greene was a beast. ..,Alan Page. And for a short time, Leon Lett. He had about 3 years there where no one could block him..and he dominated the NFL. People forget that. The Big Cat was an absolute monster on the inside. He could play every dline position and dominate. Love Donald, but he's not the best. He's top 10.

I was hoping Baremore fell to us, but a smarter team snapped him up in front of us. That Kelvin Joseph pick should have been Creed Humphrey.
