Dallas defense was 3rd in points allowed in 98. That might have been even better had Dallas drafted Moss, keeping the defense off the field. Yah, Aikman gets his 4th ring in 1998.

Dont think it wouldn't have matter much in the long. 1998 we still wouldnt have been good enough to go all the way. The team was starting to fall apart, and Moss would have probably worked his way out of Dallas quicker than he did in Minnesota.

Dont think it would have had any effect on Aikman's retirement considering the amount of concussions he had

With Moss, Dallas maybe makes it to the Super Bowl in 1998 due to a weak NFC but I think the Broncos would have overpowered the Cowboys.

Following year, with this butterfly effect, Irvin probably doesn't go down to injury in Philadelphia. Moss and Irvin are still the league's best tandem. That year Dallas had a strong defense but weak offense (in real life.) Having Moss and Irvin would fix it. Cowboys go to the NFC championship game but lose in a shootout to the Rams, probably 45-34 or something like that.

Just as importantly, with Moss, Jerry now doesn't send two 1sts to Seattle for Joey Galloway. As a result the Cowboys are able to patch some roster holes. Dallas barely ekes out a playoff appearance at 9-7 in the 2000 season but gets bounced out in the wild card round. With Aikman due a huge bonus in the off-season, the Cowboys cut Aikman and he retires.

The following season, some no-name QB flounders and Dallas goes 5-11, and a disgruntled Moss demands a trade and gets it.

How about this - Moss gets suspended multiple times for drug violations and never does squat for Dallas? Dallas is much more of a temptation city than freaking Minneapolis.

Old, OLD news. Jerry had valid reasons for not taking Moss, gotta love the endless 20-20 hindsight on this site, yes he probably made the wrong decision but that's TOTAL speculation.
