Broaddus is saying they should have signed Dak earlier and it would have been cheaper. Having Dak at a cheaper price wouldn’t make a difference. Just like it didn’t make a difference when he was making peanuts.

Absolutely.

If you couldn't win with him on a rookie contract what difference does it make if he's getting 32 or 40 million a year? You're screwed either way.

On the flip side, at least we have a franchise QB.

Prepare for the Prescott plunge protection to come out in force.

No different from the Ezekiel Elliott defenders racing to protect him despite the fact that he's been in decline since 2017.

This is correct. Even if he was at 25 they wouldn’t win dick

I’m willing to bet this team couldn’t win with Mahomes right now on a rookie contract

fwiw...this is what most of us were screaming in 2018 or so.

Players are ineligible for extensions until after three years, so at the conclusion of 2018 was the earliest a deal could get done

And whether you like Dak or not, realistically our options then were sign him long term or blow things up and tank

In fact...we had a tremendous amount of leverage. He was set to make less than $2.1 million which was cheap for a *back up* QB

All we had to do was sign him right after Goff and Wentz...same deal. Maybe a bit more but include a bump in his 2019 salary as a kicker to get him to sign.

And for anyone who hates Dak...a 4 or 5 year deal then would mean we were in the final year or two of his deal as opposed to being locked in for the foreseeable future

well what bother me most is they wait so long because they had big time doubts about dak and knew he was not a “the man” franchise qb (remember jerry talk about how they have to make the whole offense “dak friendly” so he can be sucesful...like if u know that why would u pay some one like that 20% of the salary cap it make zero sense) and they still pay him
