Happy 80th birthday to the great Roger Staubach. Won 11 playoff games in 9 seasons including winning 4 NFC championship games and 2 SBs. That’s all within one decade. We were never out of a game with Captain Comeback.

Roger is also a fantastic human being. As good a person as he was a football player.

When you grew up with this kind of excellence from the Cowboys in a decade it makes it doubly hard to watch 26 years winning three playoff games.

Always a great video, but I never noticed RG Blaine Nye getting absolutely mauled by the defender on the play. But of course that was against the Vikings defense that was ranked #1 in pass, rush, and overall defense that year.

……the more I think about it the more I wonder if the Hail Mary was more about the breakdown by the best defense in the league in such dramatic fashion rather than the execution of the play by the Cowboys.

And Roger left the game too early as he had more left in the tank but their was Danny White in waiting so it was not meant to be.
Roger is a very good human being by all accounts.
I think our futility starts at the very tippy top.
