Trade Zeke for a fifth, no us giving a fifth for contract!

Zeke is our RB. Get him healthy and invest in Center and Guard. Give Pollard more of the carry load to keep Zeke healthy. Running game will be ok.

Honestly just bite the bullet and cut him. Take as much cap hit as possible this year. There’s only one GM that would trade for Zeke and he already has him.

That would be stupid, we would save nothing. If they wait until 2023 or 2024 they actually save on the cap. Zeke is not a distraction so you would be cutting him for what reason? to be spiteful?

because he is taking up a roster spot and producing like a 40year old RB. Rip the bandaid off now. Next year is going to be a disaster. Let Quinn or Payton have more cap room in 23 without being saddled by that player/contract.

NO GM would cut a player and take a 30 mill cap hit, get real. Next season I could see it but this year 30 mill no fricken way?

Trading him? That is more viable, post-June 1, & Dallas would actually save money there. Zeke's dead money would be $5.8 million, w/a cap savings of $7 million. But that means, Dallas would be "paying the cap'' to not have Elliott, to the tune of $5.8 million.

Dallas would not get a 2021 NFL Draft pick for doing so (as it's post-June 1) & the new team would have to want a $12 million rb that his own team just announced isn't worth the money. o_O

His cap savings in a post June 1 trade is actually $12.4 million. His $12.4 million base salary is guaranteed for 2022 so in the situation where you would cut him, the Cowboys would have to eat that $12.4 million. But because it's guaranteed base salary, if you were to trade him, that $12.4 million shifts to the team that acquires him because it's still base salary.

No one is trading for Elliott so it's all moot anyway.

Jerry made his bed with this dumb contract now he has to sit on it for another year, at least. I hope to god they don't go stupid and restructure him.

At some point you have to admit a mistake and stop kicking multiple cans down the road.

You wouldn't be kicking multiple cans down the road. As long as you don't restructure him, you have a semi-painful out after this season.

The Cowboys are in a tight cap spot right now. Cutting Elliott at this point, and advancing $11 million in more dead cap space would be pretty silly at this point.

at some point sure, no team is taking a 30 mill cap. It is not kicking the can down the road, it is a matter of we get nothing for this. We do not get cap space. You may as well keep him this season and hope he can produced. Getting rid of a player for spite is not going to accomplish anything. In 2023 or 2024 you can release him and actually get some saving on the cap, but this year you get nothing expect to bury us deeper vs the cap.

There isn’t a team in the NFL that would give a draft pick in any round for Zeke. Because of that stupid contract and because he is extremely overrated by JJ and many fans here. 31 other NFL teams could find a RB in rounds 3-7 of the draft as good or better for a fraction of the cost.

Trading Zeke for 12 inflated Wilsons would be tough.

30 mil cap hit is nuts. Yup. Stuck with him for now.

Not true, McCaffery and Kamara make more or equal to, Zeke contract

Of those three, which has the lowest production? Which of those 3 has the lowest trade value? McCaffrey and Kamala would have way more value right now.

McCaffery was injured most of the year and Kamara is facing legal issues after stomping a man. Fact is these teams paid just as Dallas did, only stating other teams have paid and will pay, when Jerry signed Zeke he was producing just as well.

By the way if you look, Zeke numbers are better than McCaffery or Kamara. I don't say this to justify the contract he got, but the notion only Jerry could sign a RB to a deal like that.

Trading him really isnt the answer. You will end up with the same cap situation either way. The answer is to just use him responsibly. Go find some help on the oline, and split touches appropriately with him & pollard. I think adding a 3rd back to the mix this year is a good idea too. Using a 4th/5th rounder on a back feels like the right move. Let Zeke get 10-15 touches a game and do really well in pass protection. Let Pollard get 10-15 touches and see if or where a 3rd back fits in, and maybe they don't right away.

Zeke has value and is better than the 0 net cap savings you get from moving/releasing him. The issue with Zeke last year was probably more overuse, especially after the injury. Limit his carries, try to keep him healthy and actually use your guys to their strengths. I'm tired of seeing Zeke drop balls in the passing game where Pollard can probably thrive with more consistent reps.
