The linebacker group is in transition, Jaylon is already gone, Lve and Neal are unrestricted fa's. All they have is 1 stud in Parsons, 1 unknown in Jabril Cox and two special teamers in Gifford and Bernard behind them.

You would think, if Lve signs elsewhere, they will look to find a stop gap starter on the open market and draft a future starter at the position. Many believe that Cox ultimately can replace Neal as the team's nickel, coverage linebacker, Kearse if resigned could also play the big nickel role.

The need is more of a two down linebacker who can take on blockers and be an asset against the run. One who can do enough in coverage when asked to do so. Team doesn't need to use another top 50 pick to fill this need. An Anthony Hitchens type who the Cowboys found in the 4th rd several years ago.

Linebacker will certainly be on the Cowboys radar in the first few rounds.

Easy hole to plug in FA with a 1-3 mil a year vet.

Do that and if a top talent falls in draft still ok to pull the trigger.

Point is, no need to force a top pick to fill this secondary need.

This is a deep year for 'backers. I'm not opposed to adding the right guy in the 2nd or 3rd.

Who are some of your day 2 favorites?

Damone Clark is my pet cat right now. Very athletic, very smart, and very productive in the SEC West. His instincts aren't quite there yet, which keeps him out of round 1 contention, but you watch him line his teammates up and call out misdirection plays and it's obvious that he's a film rat. If his recognition gets a beat quicker he'll be a stud, and he is definitely working at it.

Think the need is at the Mike linebacker, one who excels against the run. Would be great to find a 3down backer, where they can deploy Parsons all over the place. Like Clark as well.

Really like Beavers as a future starter, but I still he may need a little developmental time.

good year to be in need of an off ball linebacker. Very confident a starter quality LB can be found as late as our 4th round pick. Maybe even our 5th.

You will find the Safety room just about the same.

Donovan Wilson and Israel Mukama (sp?)

The rest in the room are FA in Kearse, Kazee and Hooker IIRC

With so many needs this yr, they are going to have to find quality players in the mid-rounds.

very true. Good thing the Tight end class is deep with 3rd to 5th round graded players as well. Let Shultz walk and hope he nets us a 3rd round comp pick next year. We sure as heck aint gonna sign a free agent that would cancel out his pick.

If they let Shultz walk, you would think they are going to sign a cheaper veteran to the group, along with drafting a future starter. The position usually has a steep learning curve on the next level.

We will likely add 2 more linebackers. We ought to be fine. LVE is no loss if he leaves.

Time for Jarwin to show he is worth his contract as well

Find me the Best tackling machine out there that has instincts. I don’t care how small he is. Instincts can overcome all the measurable’s when it comes to playing LB in the NFL.
