So many needs this offseason, more then I can remember

And the D did not play well enough to win playoff games.
Plan and simple, the 49ers were the better team. They were 1 series away from probably being the SB champ.

As for the Defense, not saying they are completely built by any means, but there has to be attention to fix the offense, especially if they are considering releasing their best receiver in Cooper.

I really like Hill as well, think he could be a chess piece like Parsons but in the secondary. However, interior lineman aside, a lot will depend on if Cooper/DLaw or Gregory are gone. If that is the case, those needs rise to the top and even could be best available at the time of our pick.
I have seen a few of the posters discussing maybe letting everyone go as free agents this season, build up compensatory picks, limit the restructures, and then go all in 2023. To be honest I think the Cowboys can still win the division with if we did that. Let Dak, Parsons, Diggs, and CeeDee become superstars. Interesting idea.

You can only get a maximum of 4 comp picks. There is zero chance MM will allow the team to rid themselves of quality players when his job is on the line with both Quinn, Payton lurking. I wouldn't be so sure about winning the division, all it takes is 1 of Washington or Philly to land a quality, veteran QB.

Less pressure on the players though. I doubt Washington or Washington will get a quality quarterback unless the give up many picks and players. You are right though Jones won’t do that but it has nothing to do with MM.

Haven't started my draft reading yet, so don't know much about him. Does he collapse the pocket? Make plays in the running game? A NT who has athleticism is a 3 down player. That type NT helps in the nickel by collapsing the pocket and having a large tackle radius due to athleticism and lateral agility.

Can Mathis and Jones anchor and do they require doubles? We need to stop sticking 3 tech types in at NT. It hurt us w/ Ratliff and has continued to hurt us. It's not accident that teams advancing in the playoffs mostly have big dudes for the middle. Both super bowl contenders had more than one. Bellychickens always made sure to have a couple. Can't remember the last super bowl winner or even participant who didn't.

No matter if it's a 1 or a 3 Tech, they need better interior play. Quinn had an undersized DT that was real good in Grady Jarrett. Think any of the top four I listed in the draft fit the need of being that player who is a force against the run and collapse the pocket.

They have to get younger and cheaper at several positions. At some point they have to get rid of players who are underperforming for what they are getting paid. It's a process, but it is slowly happening behind the scenes. What is important is these young prospects have to develop and take on larger roles so they are able to move on from these aging stars.

I actually like the plan the Cowboys had coming into the 2019 season. They just executed it horribly. They gave in on everyone. No one was taking a home town discount.:facepalm:

We've been fixing the O for 26 years. That's why we don't win playoff games. Maybe it's time we try a different approach?

Not saying not to fix the defense, but rather fixing both the best they can.
