I believe we are all in agreement, the final piece for this defense is to find a quality NT to be a force against the run and collapse the pocket against the pass. Unfortunately, players like Vita Vea don't grow on trees.
Here are some names on the deep fa NT Class:
-Hicks, Fatukasi, Joesph, Joseph-Day, D.J Jones, Reed, Phillips, NnAdi, DaQuan Jones
A lot of depth, hopefully it drives the market down to land 1 on this list. However, outside of Poe, who was a bigtime bust, they have stayed away from all NT's outside of the mini. range. Think that is the expectation again, until we see otherwise.
Draft
Davis-strictly a high level 2nd down player
Mathis-is more of a balanced player with some rush abilities
Jones-tremendous senior bowl, have rush upside.
Ridgeway-in my opinion, a poor man's Davis that can be had much later.
Ogbonnia-more of a developmental day 3 NT
I believe they can draft a quality NT somewhere within the 1st 3 rounds. Big question is, will they finally pull the trigger. Think it's up to Dan Quinn to communicate to the front office that he needs one to succeed and take the defense to the next level.
It's going to be hard to address everything this off-season, our expectations should remain low until we see it to believe it!
