I’ve been pretty vocal about how stupid I think it would be for us to let our best WR walk…but here we are. Once again the Jones are showing us their their colors in roster management.

I had WR on the table at 24 prior but if Coop is gone likely a bigger target on the table. London and Olave are 2 guys I love but also a lot of solid depth at the position this year in rounds 2/3.

Would be silly to cut him. He is easily worth a late 1st/early 2nd

Yeah, I would imagine WR jumps to top of the list now. Also like Olave and Jackson.

This should surprise no one, we have been talking about it for weeks. Question is, are they able to trade him or do they just give him his release to sign with a team of his choice? It's looking like their plan is to bring back Gallup and add another via the draft. You would think either Wilson or Turner return as well.

If you’re not bringing Cooper back bringing Gallup back at 12+ mil or whatever he’ll get to be a #2 doesn’t make a lot of sense if we’re trying to save money. We are talking about the Jones’ though.

We don't know how much Gallup will cost nor the length of his contract. You never know, he could sign a low level 1 yr deal say in that 6-8 million range and the team protects themselves by drafting another high level receiver in case he leaves in 2023. They could also sign Gallup to a long-term contract that is far cheaper then paying Cooper 20 million a year.

I understand Gallup is coming off an injury but we’re talking about young #2 in their prime hitting FA. It might be a short term deal but I’d be shocked if it’s anything less than 10/12mil a year.

Extending Gallup and letting Cooper walk also makes no sense to me. If you’re saying WR is a need why let the best one on the team go? It’s Bc they botched up other contracts like Dak and Zeke and now the whole team has to pay for it.

I think Juju who is a comparable player signed for 8 million last yr.

They better trade him ........not sure many fans remember he turned down a larger offer from the Commanders to stay with the Cowboys. So if released, guess who'll be the first to call him.

Problem is, other teams know they need cap relief and may just wait until he gets released. Also, Jerry treats these players like family and does them a favor by releasing them so they can choose where they want. I think Cooper can get a day 2 pick, but let's see how they handle it.

We all are saying he's gone but if you think about it, they could very be waiting to see what happens with Gallup. Let's say we lose Gallup, Coop still has $40-60 left on his contract but non guaranteed. Now restructuring that money his non-guaranteed money for a couple more doesn't seem as bad IMO.

This draft class is loaded at WR. A GM would have to be out of his mine to trade a 1st or 2nd rounder for Cooper and pay the ridiculous salary. This team would be lucky to get a 3rd rounder for him. And the reality is he will probably be released. They should use those cap savings to address the OL and cheaper needs like LB and DT. But they won’t. Letting Cooper walk is NOT the problem. Having a plan to exchange that 1 salary to i prove multiple areas is the problem.

We just don't know what is happening inside their building. Everything we have heard is Cooper won't be back and Gallup is a priority signing. This isn't coming from 1 source either.

Many, many variables this time around.

Many should clear up in the next couple weeks.

I'm just hoping to get something for Cooper but I really get the feeling it's a flat release.

People are judging the caliber of draft pick he will command in return with his ability and potential, and it just doesn't work that way.

If they are offered only like a conditional 3rd, they will end up giving either Amari or the agent the friends and family nice guy treatment and let him go where he wants....and pocket another signing bonus.

That's my gut feeling anyway. I hope those who think after a dramatic salary increase, and three years older with foot issues, that he hasn't depreciated at ALL since we dealt for him....are right.

Draft is unproven talent, Cooper is a known commodity at the position. Team like the Jets who has struggled drafting receivers, might be inclined to give up a pick to acquire him as they won't get him via fa.

This is how they have done business in the past. They do the player a favor, which actually hurts the team. Also, good teams trade away a player a yr earlier to avoid this from happening.

I guarantee you if we’re lucky we get a 3rd rounder. And if they get that they better take it.

Letting Cooper go to keep Gallup is all kinds of stupid.

Yes sir. Gallup will be on PUP for awhile and he’s a straight line WR. He makes some unbelievable toe tapping catches but he’s not worth it. Move on. I would like to see Ced back however. He and Dak have a repoire.
