Dumb teams do dumb things… this would be dumb for them, but the original deal was dumb too…

I agree...I don't want to release Cooper but it was obvious they will have to.

I expect they will try and fill the void through the draft and bargain FA.
Gallup?Dalton? Maybe they re-sign them?I like Gallup, but coming off of injury.Dalton is a solid pass-catcher, but lacks blocking skills. We’ll see.

I said it right after the season and was mocked and ridiculed by the "experts" on this site.

It is an obvious move that he can't be with the team next year...

how is it obvious that he can’t be on the team?

We were aware for weeks that this was a likely scenario, just didn't know if he would be traded or released, think we got our answer. I'm expecting Gallup back, along with a WR taken somewhere within the top 3 rounds. Now let's see what happens with DLaw next.

Bad contracts elsewhere lead to this.

He’s been one of our mvps but let’s be honest. With Dak he’s always going to disappear.

We have to become a running team with Prescott at QB.
I agree.

It won't happen because of a combination of Jerry (justifying the contract), Moore (pass happy), and Dak (bus driving isn't good for the brand) though, but if we want to be successful Dak needs to be Ryan Tannehill.

I expect Cooper to look great next season if he's on a team with a capable QB.

22 million dollar cap charge for a guy who had 60 catches and wasn't playing top at his position.

The YAC wasn't there this year. The crisp routes weren't there. The bad influence was there.

With our cap situation, the decline in his play, and the owner's obvious dissatisfaction with his decision making, it was obvious.

Just another example of the many examples of the Jones boys having zero clue how to build a super bowl team. Get zero in return for a good asset.

Don't you want to wait and see who is actually on the team in 6 months?
With no Amari, a hurt Gallup and a rookie, there’s no way the receiving corp is as good. Add to that the defense will lose pieces also and talent wise they just won’t be as good.

Perhaps this allows them to be more aggressive in 2023 and sell Payton that he can drive a new car with lots of room for upgrades but 2022 has no chance to do anything but win the East and be 1 and done and picking 20th

Can you please explain how throwing the ball 600 times is now considered to be "bus driving"?

Amari has a much higher value around the league than he does in Dallas. So the fact they can't even get a pick back for him shows you how inept this FO is. I'm so sick and tired of this entire family running this franchise into the ditches.

Even if the Cowboys were planning on releasing Cooper they would not tell ANYBODY this early in the game. The Cowboys are playing mind games with the mediots at this point and letting them generate news about the Cowboys. Jerry loves having the Cowboys at the forefront of the news cycle and this sort of thing guarantees they stay there until 5 days past the league year. His just coming out and saying "Nah we're just going to redo Coop's deal to lower his cap hit for the next two years and extend him" isn't sexy and doesn't move the needle. But yall keep suckin in rumor mill farts if you want to.

restructure

It blows my mind that fans are worried about future cap problems while rooting for a team that can’t win playoff games now.

Why would cooper restructure for less money when he can test a FA market that will highly covet his services? You need to think about it from all angles.

The smart teams would get a pick for him. It’s miserable that we have clowns running our organization.
you are NUTS if you think any team wants to tack on a 20 million dollar salary to the cap for a guy that didnt even have 100 catches nor 1k yards. So while you call our guys clowns, it is your lack of understanding of the reality of the situation that is the real issue.

Sure, lets trade him for a 3rd rd pick.. its simple... smh

Highly covet? An 800 yard receiver ?? He will get interest, but lets be real about the chances of anyone paying him 20 million per season... that is ZERO.

He was playing too heavy at 220-225 lbs.Lost some zip in his movements.Needs to be around 210.
