Another article indicating Coop could be gone

Yes sir. Gallup will be on PUP for awhile and he’s a straight line WR. He makes some unbelievable toe tapping catches but he’s not worth it. Move on. I would like to see Ced back however. He and Dak have a repoire.

I would too, but I think he showed enough to get paid. And we can’t afford him.

Part of this is about saving some face for the 2018 draft.

LVE and Williams are gone. Schultz most likely.

Gallup on big money may mean no Wilson.

Armstrong could go either way but Quinn didn't seem to especially like the guy.

So, guess they want to retain one the higher picks.

Weirdest draft ever.....no real busts, but the case could be made its not worth it to keep any of them.

I think JuJu is incredibly overrated but my opinion. Look at the contracts for Thielen, Landry, Woods.
The three you mentioned were all considered their team's #1 options when they signed long-term contracts and weren't coming off of a acl injury. Gallup could very well sign a 1yr extension to increase his stock and knows he will be a bigger part of the offense without Cooper on the roster. I could be wrong, but think his deal will be substantially less then many believe.

I guarantee you if we’re lucky we get a 3rd rounder. And if they get that they better take it.
The waited a year too late. Look what the Patriots did with their top corner, got a pick before they had to cut him this yr.

Ehh…yes and no to an extent.

Now I’m reading that we didn’t like Coooer’s durability and that we don’t feel like we need a 20 million dollar WR due to scheme? I’m sorry what? We literally signed Cooper and he immediately made an impact Bc Dak was struggling with WR by committee…and MG is coming off a major injury?

The playoff loss was a low…but crap like this is why it so painful being a Cowboys fan. We’re absolutely terrible with roster management and contracts.

To make matters worse, heard tonight Gallup was asking more then what the Cowboys expected and now may have to overpay. Think you were right. Sorry, if the savings is minimal, rather have Cooper

This is such a dumb move. The team wants to pay Schultz + Gallup pretty much what Coop is going to make.

Paying Gallup, I don't hate in theory, but I know the Cowboys are going to screw it up. He's a good player who's capped out as a complementary receiver. If you write him a #2 WR type contract, and then play him as your #2, I think that'll work. But he's going to flame out as your #1.

And Schultz? Schultz only caught as many balls as he did because of Coop drawing coverage. He's a #4 checkdown option. That is a totally fungible role in the Cowboys offense, and you'll be paying a replaceable player like a focal point. He is going to suck if you ask him to carry a passing game.

If you had a Cowboys team with Gallup and Schultz, and you had a Cowboys team with Cooper and any mid-round rookie TE, I guarantee you you're going to get more passing yardage from the latter.

I’m all for ridding ourselves of Cooper, but to use those savings on Gallup and Schultz ?
Unbelievable.

Our team was close to being championship caliber last year…protect the QB better and we have a chance.

This is like the opposite of what we should be doing.

It’s doesn’t make sense, unless there is something behind the scenes we aren’t aware about.

This doesn't come as a surprise to me. The Cowboys operate at the basic level when cap managing. First it was Cooper/Gallup. Then when Lamb was drafted, Coop would eventually be shuffled out for Gallup/Lamb. Jerry tries to stay as simple as possible.

Our problem was on the LOS. We were no run threat, and we had a hard time stopping the run in the last 1/3 of the season.

100%…

I hate letting Cooper go, but if you’re going to do it at least

Zeke contract is laughable. Could move had Fak for almost 10 mil less but wanted to see him be great longer, he was, then he had to overpay.

Standard Jerry.
