It would make sense. Someone reported him and he was dismissed from the team while they investigated. After investigation, he was suspended.

It looks like this came after he left the team last year
At the time it was said to be mental health issues

All jokes aside, this is really bad for the league. I'm surprised it's not a suspended indefinitely situation instead of a one year suspension.

They'll probably end up denying his reinstatement next year.

Betting on a game is a serious offense
But the betting coupled with what ever else he has going on doesn’t look good for his future
In the last year he’s cost himself tens of millions

If he wanted to bet the thing to do is pay someone to place the bets for him.

I dont really see the problem in players betting , as long as it is not games they are involved in.

Dear Lord, don't feel bad for the guy. He knew this was wrong in every way imaginable, and he did attend college, right? Lets stop giving these millionaires a free pass. He messed up, now must pay a heavy price. He's dumb. Maybe he will mature 1 day.

Lol looks like a wash to me. Ridley gone, Coop gone. Ridley was probably the better move, but him getting suspended a year brings it into question for sure.

Good thought but according to OverTheCap, Atlanta is currently $7M over the cap. I did not see any obvious cut or restructure options for them that would free up the money to take on Cooper's contract. Otherwise it seem to be obvious match.
