Jordan Davis

He was the top player mentioned in the preseason Heisman talk and failed to play enough snaps to even get decent stats.

This is a team needing to ride its defense in order to get to the Big Dance and he's not in on 50% of the D snaps? Does that make sense?

Every GM is going to be asking why a physical specimen like Jordan Davis doesn't play more just as I was as I watched UGA throughout the year. What's the endurance and stamina report on him because he was building a case for draft position and money this year and played less than Clowney did his last season at South Carolina.

The Cowboys do not need part-time defensive players.
Obviously conditioning’s a factor.

My concern with all the impressive numbers is why they didn't translate at the college level with lesser competition. Read yesterday he on the field for only 28-30% ( not sure exact No ) Georgia third down plays. Don't get me wrong, the 40-yard dash speed is impressive, no question but as one GM put it, he will never use it in the NFL, especially in shorts (lol)
No matter how athletic he is, still is just a two down player that offers little as a pass rusher.

I just did a mock on a mock site and came out with this:

  • Eagles.gif

    15.
    Ahmad Gardner
    CB Cincinnati

  • Eagles.gif

    16.
    Jordan Davis
    DT Georgia

  • Eagles.gif

    19.
    Nakobe Dean
    LB Georgia

Man this draft is gonna be fun

That is probably what their lazy thinking is, and will pass on Davis if available.

If he is there, I bet they would pass on a trade, and take an OL.
We need OL, but we need Davis more. At least at #24. Take an Ol in the 2nd or 3rd round.
The 40 time has made Davis much more popular than he should be. He only played about a third of the defensive snaps and the only pass rush move that he has is a bull rush. There has also been questions about him taking plays off and having inconsistent effort from play to play. A lazy 1tech with no pass rush is not worth a first round pick IMO.

So basically a Trystan Hill reputation that should have been taken in the 3rd and not the 2nd.

I was thinking this the other day, watching the OL run their 40's.
How often do OL and DL really need to run even 20 yards or more at full speed. Most the time no more than 5 to 10 yards for run blocking, and then that is not really running.

It is almost a useless stat for evaluation, except how athletic they may be.
Maybe a DL more so that an OL, if hey are chasing down a player to tackle. I guess in pass rush, to chase down a QB. Especially now days with all the mobile QB's.
The 10 yard is the only real important element of the 4 for interior DL. Gives you an idea of explosive athleticism. 40 yard may factor in more for DE's to show ability to sustain speed during back side pursuits
