I know you were talking to another poster but...what have they done for this team?
It doesn't matter if I was talking to a different poster, this is an open Cowboys forum. All members are free to join the discussion. But if you speak up, know what you are talking about. Asking a question that any Cowboys fan should already know the answer to just reveals how totally oblivious you are to the topic, in which case you probably should have just remained silent, OR how cute you are trying to be by being boldly disrespectful toward the Jones family. Asking that question should embarrass you. However, let the record reflect the following contributions to this franchise since Jerry Jones purchased the team on Feb. 25, 1989, for a mere $150 million dollars... lock, stock, and barrel.
First, let it be known that the only reason Bum Bright sold the team to Jerry Jones despite being offered more money by other prospective buyers is that Jerry was the only one that promised Bum that he would fire Tom Landry. At the time of the sale, the Cowboys were a run-down football team that was losing $1 million per month. It was viewed as a money pit that was in financial disarray. These facts are documented in this article...
When Jerry Jones Bought the Cowboys They Were Losing $1 Million Per Month (businessinsider.com)
So let's look at what Jerry Jones's ownership has delivered to the Cowboys franchise since the day Jerry bought the team...
-Won Super Bowl XXVII
-Won Super Bowl XXVIII
-Won Super Bowl XXX
-Built a world-class stadium for the Cowboys to play their home games in. AT&T Stadium is a gem in the NFL even to this day.
-Built a world-class headquarters for the Cowboys to operate from. The Star in Frisco is the envy of the NFL when it comes to HQ facilities.
-Transformed this sports franchise to the most valuable in the world. Currently valued at $6 Billion.
None of these things would have happened sans Jerry Jones and the Jones family. I know many of you don't care about the business side of the NFL but it's not irrelevant. Unfortunately, some of you have the ignorant perspective that if it happened before you were old enough to appreciate it, it didn't happen or doesn't matter.
