Does this look like a good drafting team to you?

These 8 players are supposed to be the foundation of our team right now. For the upcoming season we have nothing to show for 4 years of premium draft picks.

2016 - Zeke/Jaylon
2017 - Taco/Awuzie
2018 - LVE/Connor Williams
2019 - Amari/Trysten

Bad value (Zeke)
Bad health (Jaylon, LVE)
Bad character (Taco, Trysten)
Bad fits (Awuzie, Amari)
Bad (Williams)

I wonder what happened since 2016?

2010-2015 your drafts were on fire. Tyron Smith to Travis Frederick to Tank Lawrence to Zach Martin to Byron Jone to Randy Gregory (worked out in the end) to Anthony Hitchens to Demarco Murray to Tyrone Crawford to Sean Lee to Dez Bryant…. Imagine getting some of those guys this weekend. Maybe Parsons is the turning point

That definitely improved in 20 and 21.

We'll see, hard to believe Parsons would end up a bust, but could see CeeDee not improving. Just say that because LVE, Amari, and yes, even Jaylon for one year, were once considered a pure win of a pick.

Zeke was a good pick, he was the best runner in the league for a few years, so not sure why you would label him a bust. Running backs don't last long. I know we were all spoiled with Emmitt, but it doesn't happen like that often.

For a team that likes to "build through the draft" we're really bad at it.
Not really
Fans want pro bowlers with every pick but that doesn’t happen
When your first and second rounds picks are busts that’s bad
But when you let them walk that doesn’t mean they were bad picks
Jaylon was a gamble that didn’t pay off
Hlll and taco were busts
The rest all are still playing in this league and will for years to come

That’s very true. Circumstances and perspectives as a result, can change quickly.

Based on return on investment? The Zeke pick has been a bust. The #4 overall pick was used on a running back. That’s a failure to properly use resources. That was AFTER it was already demonstrated with Demarvo Murray that you could lead the league in rushing without using a top resource on the position.

And then they failed to learn the lesson from other teams NOT to pay top dollar to the running back position. That’s just #2.

It’s not specifically on the player, it’s on the decision making.

Zeke was a terrible pick because you're setting yourself up for a top dollar contract at a position that shouldn't have it. It wouldn't have been so bad if they didn't go RB and then LB in a wheelchair. That's the major problem. And even though CeeDee Lamb hasn't been all world he hardly falls in the Jaylon Smith category. Plus you have the addition of Diggs in that draft. But GOOD defense has been largely ignored prior to 2020 in lieu of the superstar skill position players.

Not good enough to keep is not good enough to keep. Doesn't matter if you're talking about cars, women, a job, or employees. Not good enough to keep is not good enough to keep.

Maybe if you want to argue how high it was for a position that doesn't last long, I can see it not being a great pick, but it's definitely not a bust. The entire league was scared of our running game for a few years.
