We could see a correction on the position within a couple of years.......think about it. Most teams already have or want 1a, 1b and No 2 Wrs depending on the scheme. What happens when both 1a and 1b are up for extensions? You can't afford them.....The Bengals' three WRs are a good example.

I tend to take any shot at the FO that I can....but I also try to be fair about it.

On the Breer comment.....that's EXTREME hindsight.

Oh please. We don't need any "breakdown" of why the Cowboys let him go. He trash-talked Dak, period. And ain't nobody allowed to make Dak look bad. Think the clowns in the FO are worried about paying $20 mil to keep a guy here, even if he underperforms? With the stupid contracts they dish out on the regular? This is all about image, and Daddy & Son simply can't allow dissent in the locker room, because if we can't win, at least we're "cohesive" and believe in the process.
the other players aren't dumb they know why it's happening. The cohesiveness will not be good. Behind baby dak's back people will be talking. Collins must have said something too. Wonder who will be the next guy to come out about the baby dak.

Clear much needed cap space for a player that has seemed to decline in production and always had some minor type injury. That he missed some plays at critical times.
We get a 5th round, and a higher 6th round, though does not seem like much. But clearing the $$$ on the books was the plan.

They will use that space to pay Schultz (though I did not like that move) and to pay Gallup. We have Gallup and Lamb, they kept Brown, though many do not like that (because that is the way they are, needing an all pro even for depth). Many are high on Feheko. Then can they keep Wilson also. And Turner.

All that does not sound well to some without the name of Cooper, or some other top named WR. But it is still not a horrible group if they can keep them together. And do not rule out them drafting a WR in the top 3 either. I don't think they go with a WR in the 1st round, unless one drops like Lamb did.
There's a clear solid point and counterpoint to the Cooper situation.

I see each side.

For me, in the end, it was an underperforming contract and the arrow wasn't headed upward.

Any time you can move on from those you have to do it.

The best thing about this trade is seeing how Dak does next year. Maybe if he tanks and we tank they get a high draft pick and select his replacement.

They telegraphed the position they were in. No one needed to know he was going to be released. The message should've been a restructure combined with an exploding cap in 2023 provides more than enough room.

Serious question, why? Why was this move done? To what end? Cap wise it didn't have to happen. If it's just because he's slightly over paid then it's ridiculous. Mike Williams out there getting 20 million a year.

Seems kind of crazy to me. Do you think they asked him to take a pay cut like Lawrence? Maybe he said no.

I'm pretty sure that's not what I said, I would love to see him do well, but since you brought it up, what's one more year after 26. It's time to consider the possibility that Dak just isn't that good. If Dak needs elite players to be any good that's a huge impact on the rest of the roster, particularly the defense. The Colts weren't afraid to dump Wentz. The Bengals saw what they had with Andy Dalton and knew they had to get better at QB, I'm just saying that we might be at that point.

Lol. Ya your Dak post history is just full of moral support.

Up until this year it was. Let's face it six years and one playoff win is purtrid. Do they just do a Romo and ride him until he can't play anymore or do they move on? He's one of the highest paid QBs in the league and in the wild card game he got outplayed by a guy that's probably going to be traded.

Wouldn't it be better if he succeeds? Or, are you hoping he fails?

I hope he succeeds after the Wild Card game I'm highly skeptical.
Doesn't really matter what you or I think....all I know is that he's our qb and I am pulling for him.
We would have won that game without the 14 penalties, btw.

This is a great move. No way in hell is cooper worth 20 million. We unloaded that salary and have no dead money. We will resign Gallup, and as reported, cowboys going to try and keep Wilson also. Cooper didn't even have 900 yards. Let's bec real, he wasn't Cooper Kupp.

If they cut Dak after next this year they take $58 million in dead CAP, but since they pushed his CAP into the last two years of his contract, that is only a $9 million hit on their overall CAP. In 2023 Daks CAP number is over $51 million. That is too much no matter how well Dak plays. The options are either Jerry takes the CAP hit in 2023 while he looks for a new QB. Or he extends Dak for more years and more money. I think I know which way Jerry goes and it means Dak will be in Dallas another 6 years.

Also there is Vasher on the roster, don't forget about him, he could be the guy making the most progress in TC.
Feheko, Vasher and Turner (if signed)
Apparently they aren’t high on turner (according to Eastman). So he likely won’t be here

I'm pretty good with numbers but I'm not clear on what you said. What would be the soonest they could get rid of Dak without a huge dead cap hit?
