You can't get value for trades when the only guys you ever try and trade are massively overpriced and declining in production.

You also can't get comp in trades when you telegraph your moves and people know that you want to get rid of the player. Teams just then wait for Jerry to buckle. He always does.

At what point is it gonna dawn on some here that the issue isn't players being overpriced or not that good? The real issue is the Jones boys simply dont know how to manage personnel and rosters. 25 years. 3 playoff wins.

They don't know what they are doing.

Save them 10 million for what though? What’s out there in June?

I’m not saying it’s a great move. Just that it will save 10 million and not 1 mil. Bottom line— Collins has had injury and suspension issues.

We could keep him— until the next injury or suspension occurs— or we can cut ties with him now while we have some time to figure out the OL via the draft or FA.

This offseason sux— but cutting ties with Collins is the decision I’m upset about the least

It’s also hilarious that they can’t get sufficient draft comp for these guys.

Jerry and Stephen suck at trades. They just do.
Ya can't like.....tell the damn world what your position is then expect to have any leverage.

It's unreal that they just can't shut their mouths.

If we couldn't get a pick, why wouldn't we just wait till May 31 to make a decision? At worst, you'll still release him and save that money. At best, maybe he can still start but at G? I don't get the point of doing it now if you're not getting anything today that you won't get in 3 months

For sure...makes no sense at all to do it now but there is definitely a fire somewhere around this dude.

A RT that cannot bend, a lazy inconsistent overpaid WR and a solid #3 are not going to be the reason this team doesn't succeed.

LOL.

You are the type of fan Jerry counts on. The fan that will rationalize away most of what he and his son do yearly.

The point is clear. This team will be less talented in 2022 than 2021 unless they have a historic draft where they end up with All Pro types from their 4th and 5th round picks.

Cowboys have their best team in a decade and the NFC has no powerhouses at the top…

…and we are losing talent instead of adding talent.

they saw the Rams go all in and win the title and thought "i bet EVERYONE's gonna be doing that now, we'll catch them off guard by losing talent!"

Well in fairness, they have to do something before March 21st. On that date, $6.4 million of his base becomes guaranteed. So if they cut him after, the have to eat $6.4 million MORE in dead money.

So that's why they are likely to make a decision on him before March 21st.

Isn't that guarantee gone because of his suspension last year?

that was for a trade

It's also for a regular cut. They only save around $1 million if a regular cut. If they designate him June 1, he saves $10 million but you have to carry his cap hit until June 1, meaning you don't have that to spend right now in FA.

Hmmmm. I thought it only had to do with being suspended in the year your salary was guaranteed. In other words, if the guarantee kicked in Mar 21st and then in July he got suspended, then the $6.4 million guarantee goes away.

But I am not 100% positive.

Well offensive linemen are a dime a dozen, we can rebuild in one draft,,, okay, maybe 5 or 6 drafts.

This roster clearly wasn’t built for a 40 million dollar cap hit from the QB.

We’re shedding talent like a Chow sheds hair.

I am under the impression that if you get suspended, the standard contract language language says that you forfeit any future guarantees.
