Lots of former Cowboys players left and played out their second contract and are back on the market again. Ever notice that none of them seem to want to come back here? Just an observation. Texas has no state income tax, has warm weather and loves the Cowboys. But yet, they don't return. Actually don't even discuss coming back it appears. Any ideas why?

This is a completely false observation. Generally, if we want the guy and pay them the going rate, they return.

It's not accurate to say "none" come back to Dallas, but it's easy to understand why some leave and big free agents don't see Dallas as a landing spot.

Most players don't remember Dallas competing for Super Bowls. They've seen the same two guys run a team that goes nowhere, for as far back as they remember.

They don't care about SB trophies won before they were out of diapers, or even born in some cases.

I think this applies to all teams most of the time.

because we are not about winning. those are words Jerry puts out, but actions are louder than words. Jerry plays favorites. his actions favor a few players. he focuses on marketintg and making cowboys more valuable. we don't do enough and do the things and run the team in such a way that translates to winning as the sole focus of the organization as it should be. Jerry promotes a culture of look at what we accomplished, through spinning things and patting themselves on the back and celebrate the participation trophy.

and when players leave dallas, there is usually lots of animosity and throw them under the bus, which leaves a lot o resentment.

culturally we are not right. players realize that once they go to other teams.

Is that out of the norm compared to all other NFL players and the other 31 teams they collectively been with on their first contract?

Possibly the most recent: "According to Dallas Morning News beat writer Calvin Watkins, former Chiefs LB Anthony Hitchens “has a desire” to return to the Dallas Cowboys after spending his last four seasons in Kansas City."

I also notice that some ex players that left, still have a bond to the Cowboys, and often live in the area: Dez, Ware, etc.

Lol, if you actually followed the team and payed attention to the staff writers over the years, it’s usually because the team management knew the players warts and didn’t want them back… reason they let them leave to begin with!

Is it that often we see reunions for any team? Yes it happens but the timing and situations have to be right.

the cowboys are actually one of the best at retaining players in the first place so they don’t get away.

I think the false narrative is assuming everyone should want to come back all the time. But the reality is every team loses players, whether it’s Dallas or Philadelphia or New England or even Tampa Bay… players know Tom is coming back and are still leaving.

As for why Dallas isn’t bringing back its own, Jerry very clearing doesn’t agree with signing many players who weren’t Cowboys last year… even if they were prior to that.

Can’t suit everybody

Is that why guys like Allen and Ware were and want to be enshrined as Cowboys?
