Ever notice that none of our players want to come back?

Examples please? Not saying it didn't happen, but I can't off of my head recall any.
Tony Dixon, Mark Stepnoski, George Teague, Hershel Walker, Woody Dantzler, Darius Jackson (twice), Danny McCray, Justin Durant (probably twice), Jamize Olawale, Brandon Carr, Alfred Morris, Brice Butler...that's just off the top of my head.

Lots of former Cowboys players left and played out their second contract and are back on the market again. Ever notice that none of them seem to want to come back here? Just an observation. Texas has no state income tax, has warm weather and loves the Cowboys. But yet, they don't return. Actually don't even discuss coming back it appears. Any ideas why?

Demarcus Lawrence told you what it was. Stephen Jones is really rubbing the players the wrong way with all of these lowball offers. Why do you think Kearse randomly tweeted something out about respect? If we were on the verge of winning, I'm sure these players would be opening to accepting a bit less, but when you offer significantly less than the market and then you're not doing anything with the cap space, you're going to get players who are more than open to leaving.

Hitchens has said he wants to come back. But, you're right that a lot of them don't.

If you are in the Jones "in crowd" or A list of marketing capabilities and above average at your position there's a decent chance a handsomely overpaid 2nd contract is gonna be paid tor these select few.

The chances of landing this type free agent not originally drafted by Jerry/Stephen has proven to be minimal.

My take on this OP is IF Stephen were in the ballpark of contract numbers of former Cowboys then they would consider a return for the reasons mentioned.

But when they don't pursue former Cowboys players as hard with decent contract offers I believe It's because they want to protect their image of "Oh, they shouldn't have let him go in the first place."

Dallas: The place where above average draftees can get overpaid second contracts to further support just how well the Joneses are at drafting and keeping their top picks.

Whether you want to believe their over rated evaluations and paying their good homegrown talent as elite as their philosophy is totally on you.

It don't win anything.

But it sure sells.

Did you ever think we let them go for a reason in the first place and aren't interested in reuniting with a declining player?

The fact is they aren't out of the league and are available. Half our team is full of declining players that cost a pile of money and these guys would be most likely cheaper.

Again those players aren't here for a reason. Teams usually aren't in a hurry to bring back prior players that left a few years ago that may have a further declining skill set. Occasionally you see it happen.

Heck we brought Carr back to the practice squad only to find he really couldn't play. So there's your example.

What players are you thinking about anyway, Hitchens and Beasley?

This isn't true. They all want to come back because Dallas doesn't pay on talent or success they handout max contracts to whomever sells jerseys. Dlaw wanted to be here and so did randy they just wanted max money to stay here. Dak too and when this contract is up he'll stay here for the max or he'll go somewhere else to play for cheaper but it's rare for a free agent to give Dallas any type of discount.

I think we should follow, until they take fans and winning seriously.

Nice post. Agreed. Time for the fanbase to exit right. But like Jerry we know if aint happening. We as Cowboy fans have been on this road to nowhere for 26 years.......And we some how keep driving it......
