I think it was decided when Amari missed the two games due to COVID, it was obvious Jerry was upset. Add that to Coop not being the guy that stepped up in big games and as others have said, Dallas wanted to move on.

I doubt it. The handwriting was on the wall the moment Cooper signed his contract.
He was gone whether we had won the Super Bowl or fallen short - which we, unsurprisingly, did. I think Cooper was retained merely as a crutch for Dak, who didn't use him as much as Cooper would have liked.
I think once we fell short in a disappointing loss to the Niners, and because of his non-compliance with COVID protocol, it was easier to part ways with Cooper.
Him slyly criticizing Dak/Kill MoOffensere didn't help matters.
But we kept Coop because Dak needed him.
Or so we thought.
When it didn't work out, Coop was as good as gone.

I get it, sports and the internal workings of our favorite sports team is like the male version of daytime drama, but seriously, outside of Jerry Jones coming out and saying “we wanted to keep Amari Cooper but Dak made a deal and traded him” what do you expect to come out of this conversation?

From that point on their relationship changed.** Yes It sounds ridiculous, and seems pretty unimaginable that it happened, but it's interesting how sudden the on-field disconnect between Cooper and Dak transpired this past season. The #1 WR for the Cowboys even had to resort to PUBLICLY asking to be MORE INVOVLED in the offense?! The #1 WR that was once the SAVIOUR of the Cowboys offense and it's QB, has suddenly become a player who "no longer fits this offense". Only the people inside that locker room knows what truly happened, but one thing is clear, the decision to trade Cooper had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with football.

I read that Coop was not getting targeted enough last season?
Maybe their was a lack of chemistry between the 2 players ?
Maybe that was a factor?

We gave up a 1/3 and a ton of salary for 1/2 of a season.

Amari was paid his full base salary when every other contract was restructured in 2021.
That was when you knew Dallas wasn't paying that man in 2022. Cap boy was lurking like an executioner.

Amari knew it too and he spent the 2022 season being rebellious.
Refusing team desires and practicing very infrequently.
Amari didn't just refuse the vax he was the guy who gave the WR room all COVID.
This likely cost Dallas one game at least.
And he upped the ante by attending live sporting events with thousands of people.
It was all taken as him thumbing his nose at the team and it incensed Jerry.
And that was that because Stephen was already mad he cost more than a cheeseburger.

Dak may have leaned Jerry's way but we will never know because Dak has spent his entire NFL career saying and doing the right things.
What we do know without a doubt is Amari's best years of his career came with Dak Prescott as his QB.
His highest reception season, his highest receiving yards season, his highest 2 TD catch seasons, highest yards per catch average, longest catch of catch of career. All with Dak as his QB.
