I'm still hoping for him and the team to negotiate a longer term deal that will lower that cap hit.
It's still feasibly doable.

the last thing I want is for Schulz to get a long term deal with us. He’s just not good enough. They should never have franchised him. You can get a player in rds 3-5 in the draft this year who can give you what Schulz can

I can live with a one year deal but no long term deal

No argument. I totally get what you're saying.

Hear that? That was $11 million of the Cowboys' cap space vanishing. Bye, Ladarius Smith, Bobby Wagner, and Tyrann Mathieu.

Salary cap numbers I've seen were already including him. We had $26 million in space not counting the Kearse signing. So we should still have $21 million, which is plenty if we actually wanted to make any legitimate moves (and that's without the June 1 money for cutting Collins, which is more than enough to sign our draft picks).

I only don't like how much he will be paid because of how his position is used here. He's the afterthought of targets, the alleles fails check it down to the TE guy. Rarely do they target the TE as the goto guy And it's nothing to do with Schultz. If Moore would use him as a weapon more, give him more chances on routes that will carry him down field, scheme him some yac then it's a good deal to keep him. But I don't trust it in this system

You’re not counting the signings of LVE, DA, Washington and Fowler.

I like Shultz but at the moment this is a bad contract...hopefully they can get a deal done or a trade.

It made no logical sense at all to franchise Schultz when there was 5+ as good or better tes making half of that tag money in free agency. Lmao Jerry must have been drunk and got panicked w the news about Jarwin lmao

It just goes to show how much we overvalue our own picks and our tes and this sdupid scheme

We coulda signed Schultz for under 5 million a year. It makes no logical sense to tag a Jag te or give Jarwin all that paper either.

Now there's not gonna be any fa tes selected or tes drafted because we're all set with Schultz and whatever practice squad te that's beneath his level. LMAO

I told yall so but nobody listens.

This forum hyped up Schultz like he was this great Starter and now there's gonna be NO COMPETITION AT THE TE POSITION JUST LIKE THE WASHED UP #82 be for 8+ years

We're gonna be watching a 4-5 TD a year te core for another 25 years barf barf barf

Schultz went a span of 9 games w only 1 TD last year

Who franchise tags a player like that???

I hope he catches 1 TD pass all year like Swaim.

If he does it sure as S won't be in a playoff game.

I like Shulz but really think the tag works against the cowboys. now there is no scenario he signs a contract with less than $20M guaranteed and hejust is not worth that.

I don't think that was likely to avoid with or without the tag. Dallas Goedart recently got a 4 year 57 million extension with 35 million guarantees. Schultz's deal likely in that ballpark. The tag is a pretty friendly option in 22 while the Cowboys figure out their long term plan at TE.

Why would he not sign a 3-4 year deal with lower cap hit but 10-12 million guaranteed. He gets the same or slightly better guarantee, but gets security and a longer contract.

he's a 4-5 million dollar te max.

Cook played for 5 million and he had 9 tds and 7 tds before going to the sorry chargers.
They weren't take what the defense ya checkdown passes against the rest your starters eagles either.

He's got 10.5 million guaranteed now for 1 year

Hopefully he plays on it. Take the cap hit. It's money thrown out the window.

He's not gonna morph in kelcie or Gronk. He's the new Philly Special whereas Jarwin was the Giant killer. LMAO

A long term deal will only make things WORSE

Worse Worse Worse

Jerry's gonna throw a 30 million dollar contract at him and no playoffs. Just like he paid the Giant killer. LMAO
