The tipping point

I feel this season is a tipping point for the Jones boys. If they don't do much more to upgrade this team other than the draft and this team goes 1 and done again next year or worse, I can see some of the fan base checking out. I know I will start getting disinterested. This team had a big chance to go after it this year with the NFC getting weaker and what have they done for far? Gave away Cooper and Collins for nothing to create more cap space just to sit on it while watching a bunch of teams make big moves. Chargers already have Bosa go out and trade for Mack. Those are the type of moves that can put you over the top. Remember when they did that with Haley?? Imagine Parsons and Mack together?? The Jones boys don't look to make those type of moves anymore. They seem content with being good enough and trying to be cute with depth guy signings. If we are fed the same crap this year then they stop becoming appointment TV for me and forget buying or going to games. Just my opinion how do you guys feel?

Wishful thinking, the fanbase will continue lining up and paying because they do not demand success, just show up.

I do fault the Joneses but their enablers are the people who continually support such an evident pretender that tries to give the illusion of progress.

Absolutely. People will continue to whine and watch just like they do when they complain about the game itself. Can't keep track of all the "I might actually stop watching this time, I tells ya" posts only to have them still be around years later.

I hear you. Everyone must have a tipping point though. Mine is certainly this season. If its the same crap when they had a chance to do something then so long die hard fan. I will be a casual fan until these clowns get out of the way. I have too much going on in my life to push things aside on Sundays and Mondays in the fall to watch a team that these two idiots send out just to fatten their portfolio.

Let FA and the draft play out!!!!

It’s a positive we have money to spend. There are still a lot of good player in FA. Now that the prices are down a little bit in FA, hopefully we will get more for our money!

I’ve said it before, there is more than 1 way to skin a cat( figuratively speaking of course). Example: instead of a top edge rusher maybe we decide to make Mika a full time DE, and focus on LBer and DT in FA, etc. etc. etc. etc.

If they do not spend their CAP money, I will be concerned, but I think most of it will be spent. I think they want to win this year.

I looked at the Dallas schedule, and this year will be a duplicate of last year.

Dallas will win between 10 to 12 games, win the division, and host a playoff game.

After that who knows, but a one and done is quite possible.

And then he hires Sean Payton and promises to take a step back to give fans hope. Throwing a shiny new toy to distract us from the fact he's still meddling in affairs he isn't qualified to handle. Thus repeating this Neverending GM experiment, because that's what it is, an experiment and some fans never noticing he dooped them for another 10 years.

The section of the fan base that cares enough and devotes even a small amount of time to post on a message board like this is very small, probably less than 1%.

Stadium bond holders won't go anywhere or are very quickly replaced, and the average fan just turns on a few games a year and tries to figure out who #20 is who just ran the ball.

The NFL business is only getting bigger, it's a massive moving glacier just face it.

I'm a cowboys fan, win, lose or tie nothing changes that. I never became a fan in the late 60's because they won. I grew up in Texas and as such I have followed the Cowboys my entire life and will continue. I'm also a Longhorns fan, I stick with them as well weather they compete for a national title or sitting at behind other teams in the Big 12. I don't change loyalty.

I am already disinterested. we probably will miss the playoffs, which is worst case scenario for Jerry.

Like all things with the Cowboys the last decade plus- I’ll believe it when it happens.

Cowboys fans continue to pay up and show up which the Jones boys see as validation. Until there is either an economic backlash or public sign of displeasure from fans, the Jones cartel will chug along, selling their mediocre product hard. They are good at selling. They are clueless about winning games that matter most on the field.

If those guys ever worked as hard at putting together a quality organization that enabled real football people to make football decisions- especially as hard as they SELL their trinket roster- they would actually have a decent shot at winning a SB. But these guys don’t want to win a championship if that means taking a back seat in any way.

Anyone who says Jerry really wants to win a SB is either not paying attention or believes what JJ says more than what he does. Because if he wanted to win more than anything, he would have long ago stopped the charade that he knows what he’s doing as a GM. He doesn’t. We have a quarter century of receipts.

Oh I know me not watching all the games and not going to any is not going to effect these two clowns one bit. What it will do is I can devote more time to other things and not get aggravated that the Jones boys have highjacked a once premier winning franchise and turned them into a side show.

Right, as here we all are posting about the team numerous times a day, every day.
Both good and bad things to say with our opinions.

100% correct on Jerry! He can look you in the face and lie about doing anything to win a championship. Then he keeps the same guy running the show who hasn't done anything in 26 years. Straight up lying salesman, his son at least doesn't hide the fact he could care less about winning.

if "fans" survived the Garrett debacle and still are here dreaming about playoff wins, then what happens from now on doesn't matter. they like disappointment and hate it when fans point out the joke of a team and organization the cowboys are.

the old trusted "if you don't like it find another team" should be showing up anytime now.

Yes. It's this 27th year of the same thing that will be the tipping point for fans.
Imagine using the same golf club and the same swing 26 straight days with no success and yet you refuse to take lessons on your swing or change clubs . And 26 straight times your drive ends up in the sand trap. And somehow you cling to the thought that the 27th time, that same club and bad swing will miraculously result in a hole in one. It’s a fantasy.

I get it. I'm a Cowboys fan forever, but unfortunately, my fandom has regressed hard over the last couple seasons. Of course, most posters in here are right, I will still come back and be a sucker and watch every season, but I've been done buying their product. I used to buy tons of Cowboys gear and wear it. Now? I couldn't tell you the last Cowboys thing I bought, and, that's sad. I want to support my team but the Jones' boys are sucking the fan energy out of me. Here we go, rolling into season 27, and same ole' same ole.

My personal tipping point came when I realized this is just a game. It is owned by billionaires, played by millionaires and neither cares as much about winning as the fans do.

I know that is hard for some to accept, that playing football is just a job but that's all it is. It is a fun job to some of them but it is still a job.

I am not dependent on what any team does for my happiness and refuse to get bummed by any of them. Being a fan allows for certain forgiveness to oneself for getting a little crazy but passion is a true force.

I have approached an area that I never thought I would reach and I do not know if it is just aging or conditioning to expectations but I watch with a level of detachment. I used to use the term "we" to discuss my teams and now it is "them".

And as I like to do when the occasion arises, I used to be a rabid fan and by rabid I mean nobody wanted to be around me when we were losing. I was a total jerk. I regret that so much now but the best I can do is not be that guy and I am not. Please, if you feel you are approaching being that guy, take yourself out to the woods and kick your own butt. It is just a game and not worth it. Games are supposed to be fun.
