The sweet spot for an Edge could be at 56!

Anyone else a fan of Nik Bonitto in the 3rd? He’s a tweener so not likely a 3 down guy, but as a designated pass rusher I’d love him.

Hes one of the best natural pass rushers in the draft.

Has some work to do against the run, but I’d be surprised if he’s available at our 2nd pick.

I’ve seen him mocked everywhere from mid 2nd to late 3rd, so who knows. Depending upon what we do at 24, I’d be happy with him at 56.

I love the developmental DEs, but all the good ones after the 1st tier are dudes that’ll likely get killed against the run in year 1 and you hope they develop.

Im high Ebiketie and Thomas. You could talk me into a trade down for either or moving up in the 2nd.
The Cowboys have Tank and Armstrong to handle the run. The Cowboys just need them to be a pass rushing specialist in year 1.

I just don't see trade downs being available this yr as there will be many similar graded prospects.
I wouldn't rule out someone wanting to come up to 24 to grab one of the meh QB prospects that they fell in love with that can sell hope to the fanbase.

However....If you have that situation, but also Green is still on the board, I'd expect Dallas to pick Green.

That aside I'm still failing to see how any edge other than J Johnson could be justified at 24.

The very likely outcome at edge is a skinny project in round 4-5 who will barely see the field in 2022.

Gut feeling is very much OL 1st (Zion) and WR/TE 2nd and 3rd. All would have a clear shot at 2022 impact.

I want a 4th round RB badly, as well as a better ability to stay on topic with my posts lol.

He should be in play at 56. This website has a habit of thinking guys will be available later than they will be.

Over the last few days, we are starting to hear about some defensive players that have interest with. I am expecting a defensive lineman taken in the 1st 3 rounds, with OL and WR being the other two.

I think Quinn will be able to generate a consistent rush even if that doesn't look possible on paper.

I'm more worried about getting gouged in the middle yet again.

I don't think there's an answer for that in the building....other than guys like Gallimore, OO and Hill playing to their draft status.

Play with a lead? That problem doesn't exist.

Get in a dogfight with a real team and you're 500 at best and toast when it counts most.

I'm pretty sure that sums things up.

I figured some of the mid rated edge guys would rise. Premium position.

Gut still says they play it safe with OL at 24.

I wouldn't force the WR early, or at all...but they likely will. Gotta take a shot at a jersey seller.

My pipe dream is Dean, but that ain't gonna happen, so....

I'm hoping for all of this....

-A versatile OL that can start at LG and eventually have a shot at LT....maybe.

-A TE that's a pass catcher first, but not a liability in the run game. 2022 impact (we miraculously run much better on his snaps) and 2023 starter.

-A fresh legged RB that can be RB3 in 22 under our loyalty/salary method of determining starters. 2023 starting RB.

I know about 'needs' elsewhere but realistically one draft isn't going to cover them all any more than last year's did.

Sure…but if you take someone in the 1st 2 rounds you don’t want them to be a situational player long term.

Cameron Thomas is more of the balanced player as he is good against the run. Many think in the nickel, he might be better inside.

I really want to see his athletic numbers…dude is impressive on tape and has 70+ pressures.

70!

Pro Football Network's Edge Rankings after rd 1:

39-Ojabo
41-Mafe
43-Drake Jackson
50-Sam Williams
52-Ebiketie
56-Cameron Thomas
63-Sanders
70-Enagbare

It looks like the position falls off a cliff, after this 2nd tier grouping.

Don’t let the numbers fool you. How many of those are natural WDE’s? Do that group of WDE’s how many can play this year?

Wrong!

Nobody good (edge rusher) will be available by the Cowboys 56th spot.

You guys need to get away from refusing to address the Edge position in the 1st round.

Ole Miss' Sam Williams would be perfect to pick up in the 1st and team him up with Micah Parsons, especially since Randy Gregory left.

Granted there is development needed for any Edge outside of the top 10. For yr 1, a rush specialist would be the need. A player like Joe Tryon last yr for the Bucs is a good example, brought along slowly. Yes, some will not be right end's, but it's a very deep class. It's going to be, what flavor ice cream do you like.

We drafted Randy and he never became a run stopper.

He certainly progressed and got better each year. IMO he turned into an average run defender which is what you hope for if you draft a pass rush specialist in the 2nd or 3rd.
