we didn't have to cut him. cleveland restructured and picked up 15M in cap space....
There was more behind the scenes more so than the money going on, we will never know unless the grandson blacks sheeps from the family and rights and reveals insights to the Jones that only family members are privy of.
Would be instant number ! best seller list.
"Jones grandson makes fortune telling on family".
Just saying,, would this surprise anyone thats been paying attention lately, as in more than a few decades?

For me the bigger problem isn’t that he telegraphed his move, it’s that he doesn’t know why it’s dumb lol. There’s no strategy to anything they do. They’ve both done this many times before.
Only a clueless clown would do such act....
Hey Fonz? How you liking the Lakers season???:facepalm: Per thread the answer is what it's been for the last 26 years... Yours truly:facepalm: Jerry Jones!!
Not so good i am shifting to Soccer :)

Well, Jerry, of course, but the true culprit is:
Jimmy Johnson.
Sorry, and I'm so glad we got 3 trophies out of his tenure, but...

He was so successful so quickly it empowered Jerry to think he could easily replicate the good times.
Then he couldn't and he was failing and flailing so spectacularly that he had to find a middle ground.

And now here we are.
Still stuck in the middle ground.

And? We put Gallup over him.

He refused to do things to be available last year. Missed 2 games because of it and was limited after.

He's not all in. Not a guy anyone wants for big bucks.

I think the premise of the article is that Jerry Jones has a history of bad trades; and to get only a 5th round draft pick for Copper was a travesty.
An article on Cowboy failure gets far more click$ than any other team. Goes hand in hand with the team that gets the best ratings and the most hype.

Getting rid of the salary was far more important than the draft pick. I don't think the Cowboys could have resigned both safeties, Kearse and Hooker. They probably couldn't sign Anger. I think the Cowboys improved or at least didn't get worse when you look at the extra cap room.

Dam, after reading the article I'm really starting to believe that JJ is going senile. The dude doesn't have a clue on how to run an NFL club and these past couple of decades just prove it. Now we're going to get stuck with the next generation of Jones who will sit in their luxury box and look as stupid as JJ does now every time a camera focuses on his aging fake face................

pretty simple, Jerrys and idiot. he paid a guy who is scared to throw the ball and has problems processing what he sees or doesn't see.
In previous years, Jerry was still an idiot who doesn't understand how to build a team.
JJ also had no problem paying a QB that wasn't afraid to pass the ball, including to the other team, in big situations.

Fix the oline this year, evaluate Dak from a health standpoint (fully recovers), Zeke will be cut next year, and the main reason is to evaluate MM. See Boys are all about letting players go that didn’t perform this year, now no more excuses.

You can’t let Cooper and Collins go and expect to re-coop that and add more FA’s all in one year.
Good teams do that all the time- rams, bucs, pack….teams that have a competent front office do it all the time. They lose talent and gain more- all within the salary cap.

Look at the rams GM Les Snead. He took two completely different rosters under two different QBs to a SB. And won one. Thinking that losing talent means you are completely screwed doesn’t stop the best GMs. Jerry and son are terrible. They don’t have a plan.

Give me a break, plenty of vaxed players, and coaches missed games. Those two games happened to be FOUR days apart.

I would think you'd have caught on to how ridiculous their policies were when Covid mysteriously disappeared for the playoffs.

It’s not that he only got a 5th round pick. That’s probably about right. Maybe a better GM gets a 3rd.

but it highlights how badly he got ripped on his first round pick deal. And cooper was making 17M at the time so he was still highly priced.

well, based on what you just described, it is still Jerry who thought he could easily replicate. he should have known better. but ego. his ego won't allow things to change.

I get the covid stuff. that's stupid, he should have been fined. but regardless of potential feelings of hurt and disloyalty, he is talented. you are not marrying them. you are using their services to attain a goal. and we could have gotten more out of it. even with the contract, given his contract is in line with some of the other contracts handed out lately. so his contract shouldn't have been an issue (Adams, Hill, Allen, etc.). either he is one of the top so his contract value is justified and any team getting him, would have to pay him similar amount anyway...or if he is not one of the top, we got taken to the cleaners because of the contract we handed out to him.

winning cures all and kiss and make up was in order, but we telegraphed our intention and lost all leverage...I mean look at Seattle, they have Metcalf and they in no direct way have communicated that he might be available for trade, but not really, but the price has to be right....instead of "we are cutting him" so come get him, else you would have to negotiate against other teams....that's stupid
