The sweet spot for an Edge could be at 56!

He certainly progressed and got better each year. IMO he turned into an average run defender which is what you hope for if you draft a pass rush specialist in the 2nd or 3rd.
Gregory was a mess against the 49ers. They ran right at him. Parsons had issues against the run this season. Now that he is has NFL offseason training, watch how he holds up next season. Sam Williams has more ability to be a star/complete player then any of the guards the local talking heads are projecting us to draft.

So he had 1 bad game and you don’t think he got better over his career against the run? Martin and Smith didn’t play well against the 49ers either. It happens.

One bad game? The most important game of the year and we didn’t brink up his idiotic penalties. You can make an argument he is living off of three great games against mediocre competition. He had 6 sacks and that was a career high.

Ok…then let’s hold Martin and Smith to the same standard.

Let’s cut em.

Pro Football Network's Edge Rankings after rd 1:

39-Ojabo
41-Mafe
43-Drake Jackson
50-Sam Williams
52-Ebiketie
56-Cameron Thomas
63-Sanders
70-Enagbare

It looks like the position falls off a cliff, after this 2nd tier grouping.
I like Thomas, but he is better suited for LDE. Working RDE requires speed to get to the QB's blindside. Pure passrusher with the ability to cover the run occasionally. Would be happy with him regardless. Williams, and Bonito (OLB like Randy) are two of my favorites to replace Randy.

Yes, he is more of a LDE that does his best work inside in the nickel.

Wrong!

Nobody good (edge rusher) will be available by the Cowboys 56th spot.

You guys need to get away from refusing to address the Edge position in the 1st round.

Ole Miss' Sam Williams would be perfect to pick up in the 1st and team him up with Micah Parsons, especially since Randy Gregory left.

I'm a fan of Sam Williams but 1st round is a reach.

But wouldn't cry if it happens because SW is such a disruptor.

Not just trying to get ball but to separate ball from carrier every single time.

I love the developmental DEs, but all the good ones after the 1st tier are dudes that’ll likely get killed against the run in year 1 and you hope they develop.

Im high Ebiketie and Thomas. You could talk me into a trade down for either or moving up in the 2nd.

I'd love to have Cameron Thomas.

Arnold Ebiketie 9.5 sacks 18 TFL
Josh Paschal (Great candidate to kick inside on passing downs) 5 sacks 15 TFL
Sam Williams 12.5 sacks 15 TFL
Dominique Robinson 4.5 sacks 8.5 TFL

Uwaruzike at 6'6 320 also had 9 sacks.

Mostly as a 3-4 DE.

Need to snag him with one of our four 5th rounders.

And 43 tackles and 12 TFL. Production and length, two things they look for.

Give me SAM WILLIAMS!!!

Cowboys need more picks in 2nd and 3rd.

Tons of talent on 2nd day, would even trade down multiple times to do so.

Also should take a chance with Amare Barno in 4th as well.

A Lot of people knocked my Captain Trade down mock, but if you can wiggle and trade down 2x in 1st getting 2nd days picks you can really do some damage on DL LB and TE on day 2 and all 3 are needs.
