This weeks defensive player is Devonte Wyatt.

Sell me on why Dallas should consider him

Devonte Wyatt could very well be off the board before 24.

It's pretty easy to make a case for Wyatt based on his measurables. The Combine drills that project for 3 techs are size/speed and agility. Wyatt didn't run any agility drills at the combine, but his his size to speed ratio is as freaky as it gets.

A Speed Score (200 * weight / (40 time ^4)) of 105 is rarefied air for a big DT. I spoiler'ed the huge graph below, but there's only been 5 of them since 2005. 3 of them have been total studs (and you don't know how much it bothers me that I can't think of any of their names right now).

Wyatt has a weight of 315 and a 40 of 4.77, which is good for a 121 speed score on the far end of the graph. He's got a rare potential ticket to Studville, and I'll buy that near the end of round 1.

I don't really like Wyatt's tape, and I don't really like drafting another 3 tech, but Wyatt has major potential at a position we have sucked at forever.

Heck, a 40 time that elite is pretty predictive for any DT. Out of every DT at every weight to run at the Combine from 2005-2019, only 7 ran sub-4.80. 3 of those guys are on the NFL All-Decade team: Aaron Donald, Fletcher Cox, and Geno Atkins.

Pro:
Excellent quickness to cross the face of blockers.

Con:
Occasionally gets blown up by double-team blocks.
Lacks length.
6'2-7/8", 304
Arm Length: 32-7/8"

Wyatt actually has played spy on QBs. He is light on his feet. 4.7 forty. Lot of Linebackers are running 4.7s.
