Sell me on: Tyler Smith, OT Tulsa

It's the floor vs the upside argument. If the scouts determine he coachable and a willing worker, might be worth the pick, especially if they view him as the future LT starter.
Have the Cowboys staff meant with Smith yet? I see nothing that has the Cowboys at Tulsa’s pro day or that he is a 30 visit.

I haven't seen anything yet, I know their pro day has already passed. Let's see if he becomes a 30 visit. So far just Green is the only OL coming in.

Interesting. Maybe the Cowboys are actually be secretive about the offensive guards they like. I was listening to a local talking head that has been roasting Stephen Jones because he is not going after free agents. I get it, the Cowboys have some cap space but nobody on this board or in the local media has suggested a move that made me say that would make sense for the Cowboys.

I think your right, last yr, there was zero info out there linking them to Parsons, I don't even think he was a 30 visit. Once Garrett, left the Cowboys have done a better job of showing their hands. Clearly losing 2 starters along the OL, you would think it's a big priority via the draft.

MM and Quinn I believe was at the Penn State pro day. Broaddus said two weeks before the draft if cornerbacks don’t make it to 10, Parsons would be the pick over Slater.

He wasn't a 30 day visitor I believe, which was always a big tell by the team who they were targeting.

Is he nasty? If so the Cowboys might have him rated over Green/Johnson. I want to compare him to a certain guard/tackle that the Cowboys drafted in the 90s but I don’t want to be banned from draft zone.

rob pettiti?

Here are the thoughts of another area scout on Smith:

"He's the definition of a dancing bear at 6-foot-5, 320 pounds, freaky balance and bend. Powerful man. Physically in the Jason Peters, Greg Robinson sphere, not near as raw coming out and the good tape is very good. Just needs time because he plays the game a bit like a defensive tackle and needs to learn patience. He could go to guard as a rookie just to get him on the field and let him tee off on people, and in the right situation, a perennial Pro Bowl talent. He's the rare left tackle who can maul you in the run game. Not even close to what he can be - lightly recruited out of Fort Worth. Of the offensive linemen in this class, he's the one who could just as easily flip over to defensive tackle and still be a high-end talent because he's so big, explosive and physical.

"He's a clear first-round talent. Back half of first round could get interesting. I know offensive line coaches - they will fight like hell to get him. Can't find his size, athleticism, physicality, and raw intelligence at that young often enough. His issues are all correctable. As a player right now, he is more of a second-round pick, although if you watch Mississippi State, Oklahoma State both years, and Ohio State game this season, he was the best player on the field against their best competition."

Don't listen to cz scouts crying about reach.

Tyler needs the most development, but he could eventually replace Tyron Smith at LT.
