Travis Jones over a 2nd tier Edge

I've stated in many threads regarding Jones.
He will probably be drafted in the 40's. I would give up a couple of our 5th rounders to move up and get him, he is exactly what we need in the middle. No idea if that would even be enough, but I'd even give up a next year's pick - 3rd - if needed to grab him.
He is the big athletic DT this team has been lacking for the last decade at least. .regardless of ER, DE, TE. Etc. I would prioritize him as our 2nd round pick - no matter what it took to get him !
Would our FO tho ... I doubt it.
If this is going to be an offensive draft., throw me this bone and I'll be ecstatic !

Jones is is a very good NT he will get some double teams and help the LBs run free. Paschal is a much better prospect in terms of getting in backfield and collapsing the pocket He would be similar to Golston but at a higher level. Jones played teams like Yale, UMass, Vanderbelt etc. and had 7.5 TFL, Paschal played inside and out in the SEC and had 15 TFL. Jones is the third DT on NFL.com behind the Georgia guys but they still have Paschal ranked higher.
I like Travis Jones but I think he’s starting to be overrated a bit. He’s got the talent to become a good player but it may take some time. Not a lot of DT’s come in and handle their business from the jump. IMO round 1 would be too high for the player.

I love Jones for us, but I'm not a fan of trading up. Especially in a draft where the strength is round 2 and 3. I don't want to lose that 3, but happy to depart with a 4 or multiple 5s

I think becoming good against the run will open up the rest of the defense. Paschal might be better against the pass, but we need to fix our run defense first.
I Mentioned several months ago that I thought NT and IOL would be the best upgrades they could make on each side of the ball If Jones is gone at 56 they could look at Mathis who is also a run stuffer and a little more productive.

He will need to work on footwork and his hands but he's got the power and a good base to be a very good NT.

I know it's unpopular, but I think drafting Travis Jones over a 2nd tier Edge makes a bigger impact on this defense. Instantly improves our run defense and affects the passing game by collapsing the pocket. We all saw how Chris Jones was a game wrecker in the KC Loss, he has similar potential.

Not saying we don't need another edge rusher, but we can still draft a development player and add a veteran via free agency. They still are a ton of quality pass rushers on the open market that would give more production then a 1st yr prospect at the position.

No argument from me. Problem is, Dallas would probably have to trade up in the 2nd round to get him. About 10 spots is my guess. And Dallas doesn't do that in the early rounds.

I think Jones goes in the first round, and higher than people think. It wouldn't shock me if he doesn't make it to pick 24.

Could do a small trade back and get an extra pick to use for a trade up

Lots of stuff we could do. But do the Cowboys do that? If anything, I see teams jumping in front of the Cowboys in early rounds. The Cowboys usually wait until later rounds to move up. Similar to their approach to FA. Wait until later.

We know they don’t value the position, but did work him out and brought Davis in as a 30 visit. We need to see it, to believe it

Even the "2nd tier" DEs this offseason would be 1st tier DEs in a lot of others. It's an absolutely loaded class. I see 8 guys I'd have no problem starting next year.... how many Day 1 starting edge rushers do you get in most draft classes? 3-5?

We'd rather a receiver and you better like it
