This is a year that a trade back looks really good if they could get chart value in the trade.
Chart: 24 for 32 plus a mid-3rd.

If the team at 32 also has the 32nd pick in the 3rd, then:
- 24 for 3rd plus 5th.

The only logical scenario I see is KC trading up to jump GB for the best WR available…which would likely take someone pulling Jerry out of the room to avoid taking said WR.

But 24 for 30 and 94 works out almost perfectly…maybe we throw in next year’s 6th as well. KC having 2 picks in rounds 1-4 makes the move for them easier.

Cowboys take your boy Travis Jones at 30…

Can't think of a previous year that was more likely for a trade back. Question is will there be a partner?

don't worry if they trade to 29 0r 32 they will get an extra 6 round that's there philosphy. are if we are really lucky maybe a 5th

Don’t forget the QB’s. I think it’s a gamble to take one early. We may be in a position where teams start to think about QB. Detroit and Atlanta might call about a trade up. What is your take on that scenario?

I love the idea of trading back...add a 3rd and still nab Zion at the bottom of the 1st.

Detroit at 32 is a possibility I suppose, but do you view any teams between us and 32 they’d be worried about taking a QB? You could maybe argue Tampa, but they did just take Trask in the 2nd last year.

And Atlanta is tough…would probably be 24 + 1 or 2 5ths for their 2 2nds 43 and 58. While having 3 2nds is obviously enticing, not picking until 43 is a big risk that can backfire quite easily. Don’t really see it happening, but who knows.

I don't think the Cowboys want to trade out of the 1st rd and lose that 5th yr option. The best trade back scenario would be if the Packers pass on a WR at 22, their are several teams behind us, who may want to jump the Packers to get their guy: Titans, Chiefs, Lions. We might be able to land another late 3rd rd pick and still land one of our targets.

I was debating how much value the 5th year option has…if you are trading it for 2 picks does it really out weigh the fact that you’re getting 4 years of control with the extra pick? Guess as always it depends who’s on the board

And don’t forget that the Titans just traded for Robert Woods. Anything is possible, but I kinda doubt they’d trade up for another WR.

Don't get cute. This team has clear holes that they did absolutely zero to fix in FA. They need a good starting LG. They need a good DE. They need a legitimate 3rd WR (maybe 2nd if Gallup is slow to recover). If a LG/C prospect is there at 24, don't trade back because you think one of the plan B or C guards will be there at 32.

This team isn't in a position to be trading back to be fine potentially settling for their 3rd or 4th choice. You move back if the value is just too good to pass up because the other team got desperate or you move back because your board got picked clean (kind of like last year).

Not sure if they'll have takers, but the team that could get monster value and not lose a thing by trading back is Jacksonville.

Those top 5 picks have insane value. That's why when people say they gave up a 1st rounder in a trade, they need to specify where that pick is expected to be.
Pick 1 in round 1 is worth THREE mid 1st rounders

Always depends on the board and the deal.

But yeah, keeping options open to move down (or up) in the draft is always smart.
We dropped only 2 spots last year and added a "free 5th" and still go the player on the top of our board because we knew who Philly was trading up for.

Forgot about the Woods trade, cross them off the list

Linderbaum, Green and Johnson should not all be gone. I see that as the most likely pick.
Agree.
Even if they were it would likely mean one of Deane, Davis, Olave, or Dotson was available and I couldn’t pass on any of those 7 guys if one is there

Linderbaum does not solve their immediate need. He is too small for OG. I don't see Biadasz moving out to OG either if Linderbaum takes over at C. Maybe Penning is there at 24. If so I would pick him and let him play guard. And he can move out to RT if Steele is a liability. I honestly believe Green will be available at 24. And I am not sold on him as a rookie starter at LG.

Drafting Linderbaum to play Center wouldn't be an awful move but it means they would still need to draft a LG at some point.

If green and Johnson are gone I do believe Linderbaum would not be a shock if he was there

Much will depend upon how many 1st round grades the Cowboys assign. By #24 they could all be gone and a trade down is then more likely
