If you had it to do all over with Romo and Dak in 2016

Going back to 2016.

Even though Romo probably would have crumbled on the next sack he took, a part of me will always wonder what would have happened if Romo had been given a chance to gain his starting job back during the second half of the 2016 season.

Not saying that there was a chance in hell of that ever happening, but I do believe that if Romo had gotten the opportunity and if he could somehow have stayed healthy for the rest of the season, I do somehow believe he would have taken the Cowboys to the SB.

Something about that one series drive he had against the Eagles that made it look too easy. He looked like he was playing golf.

Knowing now that Dak was going to become just an above average QB, any regrets for not giving Romo one last shot?

Romo was broken. His body had fallen apart from years of the physical abuse that comes from the position. For his health and his future alone it was time to move on.

No rookie has ever won a Super Bowl, so Romo should have been given his job back in the playoffs. Plus seeing Dak lead the Cowboys to a 13-3 record would have motivated Romo.

I truly believe that if Romo was allowed to start in the playoffs, we would have won the SB that year.

It's amazing how Garrett always talked about creating competition, but didn't Dak and Romo compete against one another. Because as they say.... pressure creates diamonds.

If no-Dak is the scenario you want to consider, why not consider where the Cowboys would be right now if they hadn't signed Dak to the new contract. I don't know the answer but I'm sure there are a few opinions

Nah Dak was really good that game...It's a lot to ask of Romo to come back and outdo what Dak did that game, 24/38 300+ 3TDs 1INT wins a lot of games in this league, even in the playoffs. Defense just didn't hold up in the end.

The real question is if you had a time machine do you trade Dak that offseason for a kings ransom, turn around and draft Mahomes, and still have several picks left over from that trade.

Romo was 100% healthy and cleared to play.
Romo was the superior QB and gave us our best chance to win.
I would only worry about a broken down Romo if he was actually re-injured. There was no reason he shouldn't have gotten his starting job back.

Romo was not going to beat Rodgers with our defense. Let it go. The same problem we had in 2014 with the Dez catch game. We would have never stopped Rodgers.

It did not matter because Romo was a hit away from IR every play in every game.

Romo was a much better quarterback than he will ever get credit for being, but at that point his body was just no longer reliable enough to count on him for a full season.

I was 100% on the board with starting Romo once he was healthy enough to play. The argument against it was that he was going to get hurt again. I was like "great!!!" If thats the case then you get to put Dak right back in. You had NOTHING to lose by playing Romo instead of Dak at that point. FACT: no rookie QB has EVER won a Super Bowl. I knew we had zero chance that year winning a Super Bowl with Dak. Sure enough it didn't happen.

Stop with your Jimmy Johnson way of thinking!

tell me a hit tthat romo took that was a nothing burger that put him out for several weeks? The shot he took in the preseason would have put any QB out.
I guess Burrows is a hit away..... looks like Lamar is a hit away. Well we all know Tannehill is a hit away, im mean look at all the games he misses.

Any QB is the RIGHT hit away. You all make it like someone blew on Romo against Seattle in that preseason game and he fell over and broke his back without being touched.
Devante Parker has missed a ton of games. Is it just because he is brittle? I mean, hes young.
