I have been on the OL drafting train since the season ended. I really believe the #1 offseason priority is to fix our rushing offense. When the Cowboy have been at it's peak offensively, it was due to an dominate ground attack, with playaction off of it.
The defense biggest weakness is more consistency stopping the run. Even with the loss of Randy Gregory, rushing defense remains the top priority.
I really like Green/Zion, Linderbaum, but love Tyler Smith. The Cowboys want to change their mentality of becoming more physical, Smith fits that mold, so does Penning, but he is expected to be drafted ahead of us. He is nasty like a Eric Williams or a Marc Columbo. Not only does he want to beat you, he wants to dominate you! Yes, a lot of question marks about his rawness, but I think he could be as good as a Guard initially.
Really believe a true NT will impact our defense more then any other position, especially if the player offers 3 down traits. Travis Jones absolutely lit up the competition at the Senior Bowl practices and in the actual game. He proven that he belong against these elite programs around the country. Imagine a NT that demands a double team on every snap and can actually destroy a pocket.
Is it realistic to land both players, especially with so many needs to fill on the offensive side? If the team can find a trading partner, they could target either player and use that additional pick to move up to grab the other. More likely scenario is landing 1 of them and getting an additional pick in the process.
