Rank the LB Class

I think Dean's #1 pretty easily. He's pretty much a can't-miss player, just too fast and way, way too smart. He doesn't have Micah Parsons level physical tools, but there's a 0% chance he will suck.

Lloyd is kind of a weird evaluation, there's just some contradictions in his game I can't wrap my head around. Tested as a 91st percentile athlete, but has average size and speed at a position where speed kills. Willingly takes on lead blockers but kind of lazily throws his arms at RBs. What concerns me most is how BYU absolutely screwed him with stretch-zone run plays... that gave me immediate Nam flashbacks to the 2018 Rams playoff game. I'm just kind of ehhh on Lloyd, and there's like half a dozen dudes in the late first round who I'm all F yes about.

I don't really like the other LBs down the board. Harris will be good, but after him, there's a lot of athleticism and not a lot of instincts. LB is a reactive position... you have to be able to figure out where the offense is going, cause all the speed in the world won't matter if you run to the wrong gap. Call it the Jaylon Theorem.

Damone Clark was my freakin dude... high IQ All-SEC tackle machine with 90+ percentile athleticism. But he just had a neck fusion, and we've seen with Vander Esch how well neck injuries at LB can go.

Per NFL.ocm here is last year's class vs this year's. This year is bold.

Micah Parsons 6.89
JOK 6.82
Nakobe Dean 6.4
Zaven Collins 6.39
Devin Lloyd 6.38
Jamin Davis 6.35
Nick Bolton 6.33
Baron Browning 6.27
Christian Harris 6.27
Quay Walker 6.27

Jabril Cox 6.26
Damone Clark 6.25
Channing Tindall 6.24

Dylan Moses 6.21
Chad Muma 6.19
Malcolm Rodriguez 6.19

Not to great a year to need a LB. But there are some guy who are decent. I like Muma a little more than these guys I guess. I have him closer to Browning, Harris and Walker.

I think Dean and Lloyd are 1a and 1B. If you want a pure WILL that you can keep off blocks Dean is the guy. If you want a little more size/length do it all kinda guy I like Lloyd.

After that it’s pick your flavor. Guys like Muma, Harris, Chenal etc are in the mix for that 2nd tier.

I'm not sure there's that much difference in the first 7 or 8.

The best I can figure out is that Lloyd lacks instincts. He just doesn't play fast. Like you said, doesn't really make sense.

Probably closer than most think.

Id probably have Dean and Lloyd as fringe 1st rounders then the next wave as fringe 2nd rounders.

I’m not really big on LBs in the 1st unless they can do everything which is why I’d lean towards Lloyd out of the bunch if I had to take 1 in the first.

I like a few in this yr's class, but I don't envision the team addressing the position until day 3 of the draft, unless one falls into their laps. We did draft two last yr and all they need is a future replacement for Lve as a base linebacker.

No grade for Leo Chenal, Troy Andersen or JoJo Domann?

Not a fan of Chenal at the next level.

For our defense, I agree. But I think for a team like Miami/Ravens he could have some value as an ILB that can be a plus run defender.
That being said, I wouldn't mind another LB that could blow up the run but I think Leo goes mid day 2.
