Can he beat out Alaracon?.... The international player
......

Yeah, lets pretend like he in a competition. He's a first round pick. He's got 4 years to prove himself.........and i'm sure he'll need all of them.

I mean he’s a project. Dallas took a big risk here.
Last time the cowboys drafted some a round early because of "raw athletic ability" we got Trysten Hill......

Not suprised fans are jaded by the pick. Especially when there's a decent chance he'd still be on the board when they pick tomorrow at #56

NFL scouts comments from Bob McGinn:

5. TYLER SMITH, Tulsa (6-4 ½, 327, 5.04, 1-2): Another third-year sophomore. Started two of four games as a true freshman before redshirting. “Natural left tackle,” said one scout. ”This guy can pull and trap. Great technician. He can bend his knees and move his feet and slide. He was 21 on April 3. At the second level he was totally amazing. About as tough a guy as I saw. I don’t know how Tulsa got him. Only thing I didn’t like: he wants to hurt people. Sometimes when they do that, they get holding penalties (12 in 2021). He just smashes guys down and officials call a hold.” His high school in Fort Worth was small and fielded losing teams, reducing his exposure and college offers. “When you have the toughness he plays with and his makeup, there’s not an offensive line coach that would not want to work with him,” said a second scout. “He might have more upside than all these guys. You’re getting a really good athlete that can play guard or tackle. He’s long (34 arms). He’s a violent player. It’s hard for those guys to fail, but he has to clean up a lot of stuff from a fundamental standpoint. If you moved him to defense you’d be talking about a high-end nose tackle.” Made 21 starts at LT. Wonderlic of 30. “He’s a left tackle but I thought he was a long, long ways away,” said a third scout. “He’s just so out of control and so raw. Just sloppy. The big guy tries but the technique’s way off. He lunges, he’s top-heavy. I don’t see the top athletic ability that some others may see.”

This draft is a result of a team being just a bit above mediocre for years on end, with no help from a front office with trades or free agency, as the Dallas fans watch the division get stronger and Dallas gets left-overs in a draft that was not strong to begin with.

this times a million

LOL, after the dust has settled...the Boys got stuck with Tyler Smith, on OT who will probably be projected at LG starter based on need. Hope his holding prowess doesn't resemble CWilliams. Better clean that up. Not really impressed with pick, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Well, another sad chapter to a sad off season. We had an opportunity to grab a defensive starter who could improve the defense day 1.......... but we opted for an OT project.
I dont understand why people are upset over this.

They have depth at DE and DT. We see they need upgrades, but by sheer numbers they aren’t drafting anybody early. We can debate and argue it but they like who they have.

Keep in mind, guys like Ebiketie, Mafe, Hall, Travis Jones, Winfrey, Sam Williams are all on the board.

We likely get a two of DE-WR-TE and head to day 3.

If I end up with something like Smith, Jones, Ruckert or Smith, Pickens, Sanders I cannot complain
