I wanted to trade back also but you aren't getting a 3rd for 2 picks back imo. A 4th? I would have done that and taken JJ at 26.
Exactly.
This isn't dropping from pick 10 to 12....it's 24 to 26.
You would get a 4th at best. and might have to give them a 7th given how almost all the trade ups this year had the team trading up getting better value (chart-wise)

If Johnson is the best edge rusher in this draft, that's news to most of the teams, especially the ones that passed him over for other DL.

I think Quinn realizes the largest hole on the team was at LG and he needs a better OL to help with TOP to help his D. The man was a HC so he thinks a little differently.

i'm with you. i wanted johnson. i'm just not jumping off bridges today. i'll reevaluate in 2-3 years.
Awesome. Next year Linderbaum and Johnson will be all pro and probably make the all rookie team. The cowboys can re evaluate their pick in 3 years. Sounds amazing for a first round pick. lol. This is why this team constantly makes money.

LOL. You dont think he will be? I would bet money on that and Linderbaum both being on the all rookie team. But hey. We got Tyler Smith who needs work. My idea of the first round isnt projects. Its plug and play starters. Jerry has taken enough risks in the 2nd round now hes taking them in the first.

I remember Taco Charlton just "needed some work" how did that turn out?

dan quinn is on the staff...helped with the pre draft process and i'm sure was in or near the room.
and with his input they still passed on the fsu de.
if quinn really wanted him...im sure we woulda got him.

HE REALLY WANTS SAM WILLIAMS.

How does D-Coordinator Dan Quinn feel like knowing he could have had potentially the best edge rusher (Jermaine Johnson) in the entire 2022 draft, but it was squandered away for a Div. II project Olineman who is an O-Tackle but will be plugged in at Left Guard (a position he has never played, had poor technique and was one of the most flagged for holding in all of college football)?

I wonder if part of it, is that Dallas drank their own kool-aid, as to Quinn can coach up a 2nd or 3rd round pick, as opposed to a 1st round talent.
So they reached at OL, and will get him a DE to coach up on day 2. They will reach tonight also, and tell us how they got value.

Just a thought.

How are you feeling so far? I remember you and I going back and forth regarding this FO and you said and I was crazy for complaining before the draft and FA were done. How do you feel after the first round pick of YOUR Dallas Cowboys?
You were right brother! I'm done covering up for these fools. They are the reason this team is average and have been since the 90s SBs.

Sam Williams is good, but he's no Jermaine Johnson. Also, what if Sam Williams is long gone by the time the Cowboys pick at the #56th spot in the 2nd round? What then? You will have given up the best edge rusher in the draft when you picked at #24 but instead picked a 3rd round project O-Tackle who was flagged the most for holding in all of college football who also has technique problems, holds so much, gets beat by quicker speed rushers, fails to stay in front of quicker opponents and will now be forced to play at Left Guard (a position he has never played before).

You tell me which move would have been better?

stop exaggerating. many of us wanted something else but flat out lying to make the FO look worse than they already are isn't the way. it hurts your point as well as your credibility.

How many different ways can one poster cry about a draft pick? You have no clue how this ends up. Seriously, not a clue. I'm not over the moon with it, but I'm not gonna play make believe and act superior to Will McClay and our draft process.

I'll at least give him a handful of games before I decide he looks like a wasted pick.

I predict he has a strong camp and the team is impressed with how quickly he catches on at guard. Then come week 1 we will see if it holds water.
You're the one who is going to be crying when this turns out into another Taco Charlton pick. How did Will McClay do then? It's all on film. Do you want me to post it for you once again about both players? You believe this team's front office is so good, along with certain positional coaches? You think Joe Philbin can coach up a poor Olineman and make him much better? How did he do with Connor Williams the past 2 seasons? But, hey, you keep on kissing up to what has proven is average at best.

Flat out lying? Have you watched tape? Did you watch Jermaine Johnson absolutely dominate during Senior Bowl Week or during his 2021 season against top Div I schools? I guess that is fake news and you would prefer a most flagged project from a smaller school who was projected to be a 3rd round pick compared to a top 10 overall pick? Who is lying to themself?

Every once in a awhile a team drafts a player who's star shines so bright he changes the fortunes of that particular team. Forever etching both himself and the tidal wave of success he brings with him, in the annals of history. That player is Tyler Smith. Leggo COWBOYS!

JJ wasn't considered the best DE in the draft. period. if he was, most other teams screwed up by drafting other DEs or by not getting him.

Smith has warts but no where during the lead up the last couple weeks was he a 3rd round project.

if you wanna believe the hype and rise of JJ to the top 10 as a pick, you should equally and fairly recognize the rise of TS into the late first round.

i'll say it again, i wanted JJ but you should be more objective instead of being in your feelings.

Believe the real question is "if Johnson was potentially the best edge rusher in the entire draft, why did not a single team take him before the Jets moved up from the 2nd round at the end of the 1st round to take him. If he is that good, then every team made a huge mistake."

Sorry, just not buying that no team passed him for nothing. If truly that good, then he would not have been on the board till at #26.
7-8 teams did not have a chance to draft in the 1st round this year due to giving up this year's 1st round picks. Secondly, the Jets absolutely tore it up with all three 1st round picks this year. They definitely picked way much better than the Cowboys did with their 24th pick. Lastly, many teams who passed up on Jermaine Johnson had bigger positional needs to fill with their 1st round pick

Yes, he was. I even posted links to various websites and scouts who had Smith rated a 3rd round talent.

You were saying? Who is the one actually all in his feelings? Admit it.

What's sad is even Taco Charlton tweeted last night how the Cowboys over reached with the Tyler Smith pick. Sheesh.
