Dane scouting report on Clark:
SUMMARY: A two-year starter at LSU, Clark lined up at middle linebacker in defensive coordinator Daronte Jones’ 4-3 base scheme. After serving as a backup as a freshman (behind White) and sophomore (behind Patrick Queen), he struggled as a junior in Bo Pelini’s defense and lost his starting job but looked like a new player as a senior, leading the SEC in tackles. Clark, who was awarded the No. 18 LSU jersey for his personal and football character, is quick to key-and-diagnose and plays with above average chase speed and finishing skills as a tackler. He flashes the ability to stack-and-shed blockers, but he isn’t an explosive take-on player and needs to better navigate road blocks. Overall, Clark is a good-sized athlete and consistently stays ahead of schedule due to his play speed and ball-hunting skills, but he needs to expand his tunnel vision vs. the run and pass to be a complete NFL player. A projected day two draft pick based on talent, he is expected to miss his rookie season in the NFL due to recent spinal surgery, which will be an anchor on his draft projection.
