Who is saying he can’t play tackle?

Every one paid to watch NFL tape. Even McCarthy said Smith will compete at guard. Not even sure he can beat out McGovern right away.

No way he plays tackle for us.

Connor made the front office hungry for a big, strong guy on the interior. Hopefully he provides much needed push, and isn't always in daks lap.

My question is what it say about Josh Ball future?
Tyron is inching closer to retirement and there's no telling what Steele's ceiling is. I imagine they'll monitor his progress over the next couple of years and see where he fits best. Depth at OT is a wonderful thing to have.

I disagree on not being able to play. Looked like he dominated at the senior bowl to me.

I think he is the backup LT right away.
He's an absolute steal if that's the case. Hoping for the best.

Strength is the trick this guy has. The rest is questionable. I'm hoping being inside puts him less at a disadvantage but he has zero skill/technique it's all strength which is massive. If his feet get out of position even slightly he's beat.

This thread is about Woletzko. You said they drafted 2 tackles that can’t play tackle, and Woletzko can play tackle.

Ball was a late 4th round pick, so not much. Its probably them hedging there bets on finding a swing OT

Fwiw, Jones said Ball would be competing with Steele for the RT job

Are you saying that, like Smith, he projects at another position besides tackle? That was my assumption, and if so I haven’t seen anything that projects him as anything but a tackle.

Or are you saying that he isn’t a strong prospect? If so, he’s a 5th rounder, so of course he isn’t a top prospect. I have read and heard, however that he has the athleticism for the position, but has to get stronger and work on technique. It’s taking a chance on developing a guy with the basic athletic level. Reports I’ve read vary from he is unlikely to become a starter to he has a chance to be a good starter if he can bulk and strengthen. It’s wide range based on how people see his chance for development.

Tired of arguing....... its May and time to get behind these players and team. We may not have chosen them or even known their name prior to the draft, but they are now Dallas Cowboys and deserve our support until their play warrants a different opinion.
