Video: Dave Helman On Final Cowboys Draft Picks, Physicality Draft Strategy | Shan & RJ

It seems like Dak is having an input on what WR's they are giving him. Because it's been said before that Noah Brown is one of Dak's favorites. And Noah keeps sticking around despite the odds. Plus he called the WR we drafted before we drafted him? That's crazy.

well it is the worse draft Dallas has had in awhile. Mainly because they reached on their picks ( beside Tolbert) It doesnt mean they might not be good players. They just didnt get value picks and more sure things. I mean you pass on the best center and best player on the board because of need. A guy you know is a day one plug and play starter and probably will be all pro player for the next 8 years for a project with upside that holds a lot. To me you dont risk 1st & 2nd round picks. But Cowboys are desperate for a LG so they were stuck. Hopefully it works out

Linderbaum was never an option here. He was not a fit in every system and is the reason he fell.

I don’t get the hate for Williams [12.5 sacks in the SEC] opposed to Johnson [11.5 sacks in the ACC]

Very good point. And yet, I'm glad De Williams was there in the second because of the miscalculation on his run game abilities.

Linderbaum can play in every system. Did you just make that up? Cowboys are desperate for LG. Even though we need a major upgrade at Center. We picked on need not BPA

I think you're right on the first round pick. The second round pick was good, though.
What I've noticed is that the public comments of the Jones declared that there were only 14 players with a first round grade. They admitted that Tyler Smith was the 16th player on their board.
Putting those together, they think that Tyler Smith was the upper tier of the 2nd round... Why not trade down (assuming someone's willing to) and multiply your picks? Getting Nakobe Dean and another guard through FA is worth it.

Sam Williams is going to be good. Offenses will be unable to double Parsons, DLaw and Williams. You're going to have 2 guys with 4.4 speed running at your QB. Good luck.

Because the Titans & Bucs wanted to draft him as well. Titans actually tried to jump ahead of the Cowboys but another team got the pick instead and then they called the Cowboys and made an offer for the pick. Also the cost to trade up wasn't normal due to the weaker first round.

I actually like that they wanted to draft tough guys who fit their needs, and not just go with BPA. Everyone talks about the soft culture in Dallas, and it looks like they're doing something to change that.

The soft culture starts at the top. I haven't seen them do anything to change that.

It's bigger than a handful of rookies, who will become immersed in that culture.

I dont think anybody hates the Williams pick at all. If he can behave himself and stay on the field I think he can easily justify the pick. I think many are leary, me included, over a player who was removed from many teams draft boards and had two sexual assault cases dropped in college. You have to admit this team has had their share of the type thing blow completely up on them. You don't need look any further than last years second round pick and character concerns.

It wasn't two, just one.

Jerry was pretty blunt on Linderbaum. They don't feel he is going to be able to handle big noses initially. Both in the run game and in pass protection.

Do you really want to sign up for another Connor Williams?

I liked Linderbaum but have that same concern and also love what we did with Smith with the intention to put him at LG.

I don't get the Williams hate either....he is going to be special.

Johnson is good....just different type of player.

It very much remind me of Shawn Merrimen vs D Ware.

Johnson = Merrimen and SW = Ware.

Helman called it. They draft reactionary. I mean who didn't think this team was soft? When Andy Dalton's head was rolling on the floor and the whole offense watched you knew.

everyone hating on Smith keeps ignoring this Fact . . . Cowboy f ands complain all year about the Funning Game and. . . The one teamm that is dedicated to Dunning the Ball wanted Him . . . enough said

True, but it seems like they're intentionally picking guys for their toughness, so maybe they're seeing the problem now.

I mean he can play in every system. But it was always preferred he went to a zone blocking scheme where he could use his smarts and be a technician.

So no. I didn’t not “make that up” The first line of the scouting report from NFL.com's Lance Zierlein is, "Linderbaum has Pro Bowl potential but needs to be matched with a move-based rushing attack."

Baltimore is a great fit with read options and Lamar.

Linderbaum is the best center prospect PFF has ever evaluated. He may be undersized, but he’s an ultra-athlete who plays bigger than that size suggests. Linderbaum was a top-five-graded center in all three of his years as a starter there, including in 2021 when he broke the single-season PFF grading record for a center. The Iowa product’s best landing spot was undoubtedly in a zone-heavy rushing offense, but that’s not here. That makes this pairing with Baltimore — which runs a system predicated on a gap scheme — very interesting.

what you say is correct, the problem is that culture is usually set by GM, HC, and QB and we have some issues there

once in a while another player comes around that has that sort of impact on the entire team. Irvin war that for Cowboys and Ray Lewis for Ravens

hopefully Parsons can be that guy but it will be very very difficult to counter the Joneses even for him
