Video: Doctor details Cowboys LB Damone Clark's spinal fusion & return timetable

There was no optimism with Jaylon Smith if you paid attention to what the doctors going on record had to say. There was a timetable for nerve regeneration and once that passed it was highly unlikely his condition would improve any further. He was still wearing a brace long after that window passed.

When he was drafted there was very little chance he'd ever regain full function of his foot.

That was just a really idiotic decision by a terrible front office.

Reminiscent of when Jaylon Smith was was drafted with optimism about his recovery. This player was a dog before the injury.

Jaylon did play pretty well for a season or so, so I'm not sure how much his recovery had to do with his play. His problem seemed to be more with trying to go around blocks instead of taking them on and ending up in the wrong spot. I think the injury clearly robbed him of some mobility, but I don't think it is what messed up his career.

Honest I am

He has to worry about bone growth and neuropathy. As the doctor in the video points out the neuropathy is affected by how much the herniation is pressing the nerve continuously. It sounded to me like it led to stingers not constant pain.

If there is a lot of neuropathy then it will be a long recovery.

yes , one season of better plays probably is result of pre-injury LVE intro .

But his problems were definitely physical but mental too.

It is a good gamble if you find a starter it is a great gamble

Know when to walk away
And know when to run

When you're sittin' at the table
There'll be time enough for countin'
When the dealin's done"

Cheers!!!

I’m not about to get caught up with another players recovery from an injury only to have them not turn out to be any good. I just hope we don’t see thread after thread after thread documenting his rehab and recovery.
