The Cowboys lone playoff game this past season was absolutely predictable. Literally no one was predicting Dallas to win that game and that's the way it ended up.

I think it's the first time I expected the Cowboys to lose a home playoff game. I can't remember another time.

We'll have a good idea on whether or not this team is a Superbowl contender by Week 5.

Cowboys play the Bengals week 2 and the reigning Superbowl Champions Week 5.

Yes, these games are early in the season and key players may be missing, but these games should give us a better idea on how if Dallas has a chance at a Superbowl.

:starspin:
nah you play all 17 and see how it shakes out..you must not have learned in 2018 to not judge team by their starts both bad or good like last year..its simply make it into the playoffs then be playing your best ball late..im pretty sure SF did that last year..

No we we won’t. It is about the end of the year. Good teams perform at the end of the year. It’s about the playoffs.

I wouldn’t say we fell apart completely. We played poorly against a physical SF in a playoff game and lost by a TD.
That game hurt more than the Rams loss prior.
I remember the days when we were considered the Big Bullies on the block, everybody hated us because we had players like Erik Williams that would throw punches and land hay makers at the LOS, and get away with it most of the time.
Now it seems that flags start flying before the OL even start trying.
Smith was drafted with the 1st pick because he was the closest thing at 24 that brought an old school physicality and nastiness back to an OL that was severely lacking in that dept.
Will be immediately interesting to see how Tyron responds to someone playing off his right shoulder that can hold his own, its been awhile.
We count Tyron out, but he is still a top 5 LT in this league when healthy, and having a young buck Rook taking some heat off will extend Tyrons tenure, and that can be a really good thing.
Left side is good, just need to discover some attitude on the right side in camp and this OL can bounce back quicker than a lot are expecting or doubting.
We know this OL gets flagged excessively, so rather than getting flagged for holding constantly, I would rather get penalties and possible ejections for just getting back to being bullies again.
Im sure many will not agree, but being dominant in the trenches means that rules are broken, and flags can fly, but at the end of the day you beat the snot out of your opponent.
EW owned Reggie White, every game that they squared off, Reggie knew already he wasnt dealing with a technique OL, he knew he was getting his rear end kicked in a brawl.
Thats the attitude that at least we might see a spark started with our new big boy rook.

We'll have a good idea in 5 minutes.

Oops, make that 5 seconds.

They're not. That's laughable.

They got completely dominated in a game that looked like a 30-point rout.

The score was an anomaly.

I would like to see the Cowboys get better as the season goes on and be playing their best football by December/Jan. That’s the recipe for winning a championship. The teams that peak for the playoffs have the best shot of reaching the Super Bowl. The Cowboys usually peak by mid season then begin to fade. Limping into the playoffs almost always leads to a one and done.

Why's that apparent?

Would you have faith taking your car that has broken down for 26 straight years on vacation?

You would never trust anything else in your life that has failed you for 26 straight years. Why the Cowboys? What have they done to earn such trust from you? Why does it bother you that others have lost trust and will gladly stop being doom and gloom when they stop being right? I used to trust them the way you do, but 1996 was a long time ago and they've lost that trust. It's on them to earn it back.
If you look at the roster specifically, leave the FO out of the equation, what can you identify or define as a roster strength at this point?
Its just discussion, and just asking your honest opinion.

Give up. We can't win a SB without Maholmes, Brady, Allen, etc. Just enjoy the games

LB (because of Parsons), P, and G (because of Martin).

That's it.

I believe we're average to below average everywhere else.

Very true, and the fade is like a plague.
Not trying at all to be sarcastic, but which area of the team do you identify as being the biggest fade.
Has it been the OL and inability to pass protect or run block.
Has it been the DL and the inability to stop the run.
Those are two gigantic hurdles to overcome, but we should improve in both areas this season.

Our fades have been a combination of several things. Last season it started in the trenches. Our running game which looked pretty solid early in the season started to disappear and we began to struggle stopping the run. The issues on the OL affected Dak’s play. Zeke played injured a good portion of the season. Dak was never the same after he came back from his injury. Once we got knocked off track by Denver we were never the same team. December and January start to separate the contenders from the pretenders. Every championship team the Cowboys had were playing their best football by the playoffs.

I do, I quit being irate several season ago...lol
This roster can win post season, but its going to be with a lot of last year and this year draft class contribution.
Rooks have to grow up quick in this league, not just this roster, this team, the entire league.
First contract production is pivotal and its up to the coaching staff to escalate the process.
I believe Quinn has the ability, but Moore has to step up his leadership in his house in order for this team to come together.

The 1st 5 games of the season gives us Tampa and the 2 teams who were in last years SB in Cinn and LA Rams. I think those games will give an early indication of this teams chances. I feel this team needs to prove to themselves they can play with these top teams and win. Clearly how you finish the season means a lot, everyone wants to hit post season with a hot hand but those early games go a long way in building the confidence this team needs vs top opponents

No, I think it will take the entire year determine that. Teams can start hot or cold in September but that doesn't necessarily determine how they will finish the year. Below is an example:

In 2021 this team started out 3-2.

They lost to the lowly Bears and GB. Their 3 wins were a 3 point win against Jacksonville (worst team in league), OT win against Vikings, and a win against Pittsburgh. They could have easily been 1-4.

Yes, that was your 2021 Cincinnati Bengals. Did they look like a Superbowl team after 5 games? Shoot they didn't even look like a Superbowl team after 9 games as they beat Detroit and Baltimore to move to 5-2 but then lost to the lowly Jets and got destroyed by Cleveland to start the year 5-4.
