Randy White.... after the first two years, in which the team tried to convert him to a LB, I thought he was a bust. Glad to have been proven very, very wrong

Michael Irvin. His first couple years, he looked like a bust.

Our very own Emmitt Smith. While I thought he was good at FL I didn't like that we drafted him. I didn't think he would last more than 4 years in the NFL with his size and wasn't worth a 1st round pick (never liked picking a RB in the 1st round). Dude was a straight baller though and while he was only 5'9 his heart just couldn't be measured.

Back in the day, early Bradshaw interviews had me thinking
"how did this guy get out of the 8th grade"

The more success he had against Dallas the more I hated him.

A big time player with some big time moments.

This is easy. I emphatically declared after the 2001 season, the ultimate one year wonder was obviously…..Tom Brady. ( also declared this basketball player was too much of a ball hog to ever win..Michael Jordan)….

I was leery of Micah Parsons year off of football. His highlight reel was great, but I would have preferred a tradedown and pick up Jeremiah Owusu Koramoah, along with Caleb Farley and Richie Grant. I don't think Caleb Farley was able to play much last year, right?

Now, knowing that Micah Parsons could very well be #1 overall in a re-draft... I'm ok with the pick...

Travis Frederick ...... I wanted some nose tackle who I cannot even remember and thought Fredbeard was a reach.

Yes... picking a center in round one is low key excitement at best. I was just glad that Dallas didn't get Manzel. I was hopeful that he would be good, and he sure was.

Peyton Manning.

Thought he was at his ceiling already because of his pedigree and polish and that he'd end up ordinary (as in solid starter but no more than that) at the next level.

This

I’ll even admit I thought Leaf would be way better. Just thought he was a limp arm system guy at Tennessee.

Jerry Rice.

We lived in Baton Rouge when he played at Miss Valley State and they had the wildest passing game with a minimum of 6 passing TDs a game and were televised quite a bit and they ran 4-5 WR's all the time and while he was the best, they were all pretty good and I didn't think any of them would be that good. I thought he might be OK but never to the degree he reached. I thought he was a product of that system but he was the pivotal part of it along with the QB, Willie Totten. They averaged almost 60 points a game and I think he threw 60 TD passes in his and Rice's last year.

Rice never failed to catch me off guard. I'd be thinking 'well, they're sure as hell not going to let Rice beat them'. How he continued to get open game after game and season after season was one of the most unusual parts of the NFL I can recall. He was literally unstoppable and one of the hardest training athletes to ever grace the NFL.

He hasn't reached the great status yet but the 2020 version of Terrence Steele made me think he wasn't even an NFL caliber o-lineman.
Now I see he is at least a serviceable right tackle. And that the Cowboy Front Office believe he was the better choice over Lael Collins which will be interesting to compare their future years performance.

Tom Brady. I wasn't buying the hype the first few seasons he started. That NE defense was legit and made a ton of plays, so I felt Brady was along for the ride more so than him doing anything deserving of all the praise the media heaped on him.
