Why not grab Baker Mayfield? Dak may not be the answer

Regarding Mayfield and his reputation as whiner - here’s a quote from article last March on why Cle is done with the former #1 pick in the NFL draft- “As Pat McAfee recently explained, NFL teams have taken note of how Mayfield has handled adversity throughout his career, and many aren’t impressed.”

Look at how QBs Jimmy Garropolo (who has at least won some big playoff games) and Sam Darnold have handled their teams attempts to trade them- they’ve stayed quiet and let their agents do the talking.

Mayfield is a spoiled brat who has always acted as if being a Heisman winner and a top draft pick alone made him “elite”. His reputation among teammates is a guy who talks trash without much game to back it up. It’s easy to talk trash to Kansas when half your OU teammates are future NFL stars. The NFL ain’t the Big 12.

I believe baker at a reasonable 15-20 million contract will be a far better option for the cowboys in the next 4-6 years than Dak .
Mayfield can ignite this offense and make better use of the receivers and OL we have .
Not to mention that dak has become injury prone, and has wild inconsistencies and slumps during the season.
No Mayfield but Garopolo would do.

What the hell is wrong with you?
Baker? You have watched him play, right?
I'm no Dak lover, but c'mon man.

I was wondering when this post was coming from the peanut gallery. Did you also suggest we should trade Dak and two first round picks for Watson as well.:facepalm:

1. Cant afford them both.
2. Both want to be starters
3. It would cause a meltdown of the Cowboys Zone servers.

Agree. Let's pick up the 21st ranked quarterback. It will match Dallas's 21st ranked offensive coordinator, Kellen Moore! :lmao:

if Dak is not the answer, then Mayfiled is 1000% not the answer. if he was any good, anything you can really win with, somebody would trade for him. his team traded and extended a QB that may not even play and didn't offer anything to Mayfield. nobody wants him, because Mayfield sucks.... so unless you are saying, we should sign him to tank and get a top 5 pick, there is no other reason to go after Suckyfield. .
Many NFL executives and owners want to trade and get baker but don't want to give the browns an out after that monster stupid contract they gave deshaun .

1. He’s not better than Dak. I would argue he’s a big step down.
2. He’s a prima donna who rubs a lot of teammates the wrong way.
3. His reputation has often benefited from being surrounded by superior talent that made him look better than he is. (Like at OU where he was surrounded by NFL talent)
4. If he was so good, why have several of the teams who are desperate for a starting QB said no thanks or he’s too expensive?

For me- Mayfield would be a hard no thanks.
Your trust in dak may be a bit too optimisitic. 1 playoff win at home in 6 years !! Heck baker beat dak face to face here in dallas , and it was not close. and baker has a more recent and more impressive road win against pittsurugh on the road.
Not sure why you are so high on Dak ?? especially at 42 mil a year. Dak is not even on the top 3 most talented on the cowboys list. That is just crazy. Baker , when healthy is more effective than Dak, and more affordable.

Say what you want about Baker, but at least he is not accused of fondling 24 massage therapists and carrying around his own special towel. Cleveland has done themselves in. Talk about being disgruntled in the locker room! Who the hell in their right mind would follow a degenerate alleged sex abuser?!

Baker is SO GOOD….that Cleveland gave DeShaun Watson $230M FULLY GUARANTEED even though he may be suspended.

But his first year is only a million, kinda like what NE did with Brady after/during inflate gate.

Yes when healthy he is better than dak , who i think has peaked and on the decline.
Have you watched mayfield lead the browns to a big win at the cowboys home turf ? or Mayfield win a playoff game on the road ( which dak does not have on his resume) , and i watched baker beat Joe Borough and cincinati at their stadium big time the year before. When healthy , he can be a bargain at 15-20 mil.

don't be fooled by empty calorie stats , which is what dak's career boils down to . 23% win percentage against good teams and 1 playoff win at home in 6 seasons, heck Mayfield has a bettter record and a win on the road against pittsburgh the season before .
Looking at the stats you posted is misleading as it would mean that dak is better than Kyler Murray and Russell wilson and Justin Herbert and otheres ?? No NFL executive would take dak over these QBs. Stats don't tell the whole story.
Not to mention dak's monster contract which is going to keep costing the cowboys roster talent .
