What is your opinion on this? It's not necessarily a bad idea and it may lead to less injuries. Especially if they cut down the preseason to two games.

They could do it, and just play the SB on Pres weekend, as the owners have wanted to do for a while now....but I think that plan included an 18th game, not a second bye lol.

They can add both but they would need to go back to starting on labor day weekend, which is a last resort for the owners side.

Personally I wouldn't complain at 18 games and two byes.

Makes the season longer and the off season shorter....but they certainly need to knock it off with these skimpy rosters. 53 needs to become 60 in that case.

Everyone makes more money that way, which should tell everyone that it's pretty much inevitable.

Don't mind it. Another week off to get players a little bit "healthier" is a good thing for the game.

They already cut down the preseason from 4 to 3 games in order to add an extra regular season game. Some of these players are becoming lazy. If they want 2 weeks off, let them go play for the Canadian League or somewhere else.

Two preseason games isn't enough to evaluate fringe guys.

The starters need work as well.

3 preseason.
18 regular with 2 byes starting Labor Day wknd.
SB Presidents weekend.

Everyone wins.

You want to cut down on injuries? Knock it off with the Thursday games. I like the idea of one more game that matters especially if the team is healthy.

Then let them negotiate for that extra Bye week when the CBA is due again. Until then, hell no!

Drop the Thursday games. They are nothing and cause more injuries than anything else.

They should do this and expand the roster number ..... But the POS owners only care about their bottom line so it won't happen

They'll get the 2nd bye when the 18th game is added - 20 week regular season.

I always thought they should go back to starting Labor Day weekend anyway.
I used to hate the bye week, still kind of do. But certainly understand it, and am used to it. I agree, I rather see an 18 game schedule, 2 PS games, and 2 bye weeks.

Move the start up a week and the SB back a week if need be. That way we also get shorter off-seasons. And for sure increase the rosters. 60 may be a bit much, depending how ,any are active on game days as that needs to increase as well. For sure at least 56 players, 50 active.

Did Kittle whine about playing 20 games last year, 3 playoff games?
Suck it up dude.
But it may be time to add that 2nd bye week. Then we can whine our two bye weeks are too close together. :muttley:

I can't stand the bye when it happens, but it's needed for sure.

I always liked starting on Labor Day, but the ratings were bad. Wonder if thats changed since they stopped it for that reason. NFL is much more popular now.

Goodells job is to grow revenue every year. When they get stuck, they have two more weeks to play with.

I have zero doubt it'll happen in time.

They are afraid they will need to sell a toy or two.
Jerry would need to decide, his big boat, helicopter, or jet. Or he could give up his baby mama's stable. :muttley:

I'd be all for it. Not a huge fan of preseason games to begin with, and would be fine going down to 2. You could also pretty easily just start the whole preseason schedule on HOF weekend to keep it at 3.

I see almost a 0% chance this happens prior to the next CBA though. It's something owners are probably fine with, but will want to use as a bargaining chip, probably to get an 18th game approved.
