In 1996 do you guys remember how we chanted We Want Dallas in the playoffs? We never got that matchup in the NFC Championship Game but do you guys think you could have beaten us in Lambeau that year?

I remember that game and the crowd was chanting "we want Dallas". Personally I think we would have lost without Leon Lett to plug up the middle and our pass rush was suspect. But we were in the heads of Green Bay which may have helped us win. But if it came down to execution Green Bay would have won cuz you guys were hitting your stride and we were self destructing. If emotions played a part I think we would have had a chance cuz Farve had a mental block with us. The reason why I say that is while the crowd was chanting the reporter asked Favre about the chants and he said something to the effect of "well they're forgetting how they kicked our behinds the last couple years".

That Packers team never beat that Cowboys team in any game they ever played. I think Dallas went 8-0 against them. Even beat them in the regular season in 1996 with a Cowboys team I didn't think was that good. The Packers had to wait until the Cowboys completely sucked in 1997 to finally win.

No, we couldn't even beat Carolina.

You’re asking the wrong crowd you’re not going to get any unbiased opinions here. However I will give you an unbiased opinion. The Cowboys were on their way down in 96 and Green Bay was on their way up. By the final month of the 96 season the Packers were a much better football team than the Cowboys. Green Bay finished the 96 season winning 5 straight. The Cowboys may have won the battle at home earlier in the season against Green Bay but they wouldn’t have beaten the Packers at Lambeau in the playoffs. The Packers blew everyone out in the playoffs, scoring at least 30 and I’m sure they would’ve done the same to the Cowboys. This was not the same Cowboys team that was winning Super Bowls.

Without Leon Lett, Michael Irvin (broken collarbone in the Panther game) and Deion Sanders (broken orbital bone in Panther game)? No chance in hell. IIRC, the championship game was played in temps that were single digits with a negative wind chill, so it would have been very difficult for Dallas to win.

That 1996 Cowboy team made it through the NFC East with smoke and mirrors. Literally every single offensive player on that team had a significant decline in performance from their 1995 output. That team won with defense, and without Lett, they couldn't stop the run or mount much of a pass rush. The Packers should have been in position to win that game convincingly, but they likely would have struggled for a little while because of the mental block of never beating Dallas in the 90s. The second half would have been all Packers.

Nope, without Jimmy that team was rudderless

Our boy Brown signed that big contract with the Raiders after that incredible 3 pick gimme.

Rudderless? I wouldn’t go near that far we won the Super Bowl the previous season without Jimmy. What was hurting the team the most was the loss of key free agents. Everyone was raiding our roster. We had just lost Larry Brown who was coming off a Super Bowl MVP performance.

Someone should ban you for calling him a bozo. At least he doesn’t come in here and attack anyone.
