Statistically means nothing to me. That was the defense that collapsed when Lee was hurt. They sucked. They were statistically better because out ball control offense kept them off the field. And for no other reason. Had Dallas just turned the ball over more that year no way they win 13 games.
If you looked at everyone outsides of Zeke's individual stats there's no way you'd think we won 13 games that year.

2016 is a perfect example of stats being incredibly misleading.

Our QB didn't throw for 4,0000 yards or even 25 TDs
None of our pass catchers even had 80 catches.
We didn't have a pass catcher surpass 900 yards receiving.
Our leading sacker had 6 sacks
Our leader in INTs had 2.
Zero defensive TDs.

2016 was the year of Zeke and the offensive line.

Ok then. You have a different measurement of NFL defenses than the league does if you’re going throw out official NFL stats.

Today's Cowboys would go much further and be a lot more dangerous if they were able to do that again. For two reasons. That defense wasn't very good. Dallas hid them on the sidelines with ball control. Not only that, but our offense rarely turned the ball over. That was huge since out D wasn't that good.

Even though this current D isn't elite, it is waaaay better than the 2016 D. And who knows if they step it up or not this season?
Nailed that one.

I really think Jerry overrates Prescott, and wants Moore to feature him to justify the contract. They want him to be something he really isn't, which is a prolific pocket passer.

They don't use him the way he needs to be used....which doesn't necessarily mean having 10 great players around him, but keeping him in 2nd and 4/5 much more often, and methodically moving the chains....a big part of which being his own legs.

Incidentally, we had at least a solid NT on that team in McClain. For some reason, Jerry just refuses to notice how much difference DT's and S's make to a D. He proceeded to dump McClain and Church in the off as Jerry slowly deconstructed the D. Does anyone ever even try to tell him this stuff?

The horrific player evaluations just keep biting us in the bum. Remember when they started sending stone hands Austin deep all the time?

Well I think the Prescott thing beats them all.

For all the debate.....'he stinks, no he doesnt'.....per usual, the truth lies in the middle....he isnt used properly, and Jerry has his fingerprints all over that, and why we continue to have a puppet OC from the last regime.

McCarthy is already covering himself publicly on it. It's clear that Jerry wants to pick his coordinators and be the defacto HC...STILL.

Before anyone goes nuts, I dont think Jerry calls plays, but Moore is there to carry out what Jerry wants....which is the same thing I'd want of we had Aaron Rodgers. Problem is Jerry thinks Prescott is indeed that because he pays him that way. He isnt.

This defense is ready to take the next step, and if we had a strong run game and consistently won the TOP battle, we would a serious force and have a real chance.

But nope, it's about passing stats, and marketing and fantasy football and jersey sales.

Unfortunately as far as our dysfunctional ownership is concerned I’m afraid there is much truth to the meddling in offensive priorities and schemes .

Also the fact we get off to slow starts and or get behind in many of these games also dictates having to fall back on or rely to more of a passing scheme .

Well put.

There are people out there that think Jerry essentially tells the staff....."sure, do what you want. You all know more than I do."

That would be a no. There's a coordinator forced on every HC, so he can have 'his guy' in place so he can have his input.

I guess he is afraid they won't win anything if he relinquishes control lol. Typical Jerry logic.

Yes. I agree completely. Imagine if we had that again? We'd be way more dangerous.

Forget stats. You have eyes, you can see what's going on. Since when numbers superseded what you're actually watching?

Yeah, it seems like Jerry assumes Dak is a top end QB. He's good, but he's not quite there.

I seriously think Jerry is an offensive mind. I wouldn't be surprised if he paid Lamb and let Diggs walk.

Yeah I know. This is the age when numbers reign supreme. You don't need to watch the games, just look at the statistics.
Statistic are used in sports to help people like himself, who has no idea what they are watching, follow the game more easily.

Years ago, in the 60s or 70s, if you tried to prop someone up using statistics you'd probably be punched in the face. Today some of these people are respected. Don't believe what you see, believe my numbers. And some idiots buy into that.

Dak is a good QB, nothing more. No stats are going to make him play better. They just make him look better. Jerry needs to build the team around him to succeed. But I don't see him doing that.

Then it should be insanely easy for you to find me blaming loses solely on Dak, right?

Why won't you do it then? Why won't you post one single post of me doing it?
:facepalm::huh:

dude. just stop it....just stop....I am helping you here. just stop for your own sake. this is getting embarassing
